Check and replace its main power regulator [SMPS] board. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
your Main board went bad, common issue with these units. Need to be replaced, in tv land it called main board in computer world mother board. your unit has only two boards power board and that is good cause you get a amber to green to amber led. good luck Vizio field tech
That problem is 2 causes, its either power supply or system board. This are some D.I.Y procedure for troubleshooting.
Open the back cover by removing all screws at the back.
Try to look at the power supply board and find the leak/bulge on top capacitors. If you found, replace it with the same type and ratings.
If the power supply doesn't have any leak capacitors.Try to power it ON to perform voltage checking.
Check the output voltage of power supply such as
5vdc,12vdc and 24vdc by using voltmeter.If this 3 supplies having a
voltage drop or flickering voltage while on power ON.Check the following
parts on the power supply, change value/open resistor, shorted transistor
and diode or repeat step # 2.
When the output voltage is stable and all parts looks
OK.The problem could be on system board.Unfortunately the system board
or main board is not for D.I.Y because the parts inside is very logic
and very sensitive.That is replaceable.
Had same prob;em. Replace main board and now works just fine. You need
to take the back off and under the metal cover is the main board. The
part number should start with 3320-xxxx-xxxx. You can purchase the
board from Vance Baldwin. vancebaldwin.com sign in as a guest. I will
warn you the cost of the board is high.
Sounds like the power supply board blew. You can purchase a new one directly from Vance Baldwin. They are the only parts supplier for Vizio. http://www.vancebaldwin.com/
It's just plug and play. remove the old circuit board and replace with the new one. Not difficult and it should solve your problem for less than $100.
I bought my 42" plasma Vizio 17 days ago and this problem just happened to me. We were watching and it just went off and it won't come back on. The tv clearly has power as the yellow light is on, but this tv simply won't come on. I called Walmart to verify I could return (I can) and they said they have two others that were returned sitting in back. I imagine this is going to force Vizio to do something soon, I can only imagine how many of these things are going to start failing in the years to come.
I've got the same problem. I think we got what we paid for. It's either a power supply (internal) problem or an internal electronic board problem. Either way, Visio charges around $300 for the repair. I'd just save the $300 and put it toward a TV not sold at walmart.
