The problem is most likely the magnetron is defective and the humming is a typical symptom that supports this, there are two other parts that may be a factor, the high voltage capacitor and diode they work with the magnetron to generate the high voltage that heats the food.

If its making a humming noise, that means the diode is bad and should be replaced. Once replaced the microwave will begin to heat again.

Microwave is making a noise

If your microwave is making an unusual or loud humming noise, you may have a problem with the magnetron. This component is part of the high voltage circuit and provides the microwaves that generate the heat. If the magnetron is defective, it may cause a loud humming or buzzing noise.

Runs but has loud humming sound. Does not heat. Turntable, timer and lights work.

The diode that connects to the capacitor needs to be replaced. Once its replaced microwave will begin to heat again. (If it wasn't heating and wasn't making a humming noise, then your magnetron would need to be replaced). If you are thinking of doing it yourself and need instructions, i'll be glad to help.

Wont heat. Everything else seems to work. I notice a HUMMING noise while it is opperatiing

A loud humming or buzzing noise would indicate a short on the magnetron circuit, the part that heats the food. These can be expensive to repair since the cost of the magnetron can be as much as a new oven. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace.
