Acer Aspire 5720ZG with same problem. I like to decrease the sensitivity or find another way to "live with" the mousepad.

I have the same problem with a Dell 5101 inspiron. there is no way to disable the mouse, even in Bios.

any other solution?

When I type the curser on my lap top jumps all over. It just started doing this

Hello
Most probably because your 'Touch Pad Mouse' is touched by your palm (hand or something) while you are typing. Avoid contact with the mouse touch pad while typing.
Option 2:
If you have a centre moveable mouse on your laptop, start using it and disable the 'Touch pad mouse'

When typing, cursor jumps backward several spaces

Sounds like your mousepad is ghosting. This means it thinks you're tapping the mousepad as you type, which will make it type exactly where you nlast moved the curser to. First, try cleaning the pad thoroughly with a damp tissue, and dry it well... if that doesn't solve it, you could try adjusting the mousepad sensitivity controls on the control panel. While typing on Acer Aspire the typing jumps around constantly...why?

Most of the time disabling the tapping for the touchpad solves the problem. Go to settings and disable the tapping for the touchpad, not the touchpad itself, just the tapping.

I have an acer aspire one with Starter Windows 7. While typing my curser jumps around. It jumps back a few words almost as if it can't keep up with my typing. But even when I type slowly, it still jumps.

um maybe your are hitting your touchpad and don't relize it. try moving your arms aprt from the touchpad

go into mouse properties and look for a check mark that says something like "disable touchpad while typing" make sure thats chkd off. if not chk the box and problem solved
