I have a RCA TV model # 27F520T and i was "told" by a represenative that i will have to get the original remote to the TV (which is # 265714 i believe although the rep said it was 270372) to turn the TV back on. This has been a very irritating experience and LONG. I called up the RCA parts department and they dont have ANY of them in stock (back order). I will persue to get the original TV to reprogram and turn off the lock (god help me) but has anyone gone through this and it worked? OR does anybody have any info that might help? thanks a bunch i moved into my new place and the TV was fine at the old, as soon as i turned it on it went blue screen and white lettering "FPA LOCK" and shut down. You CANT turn it on (nor off) so i NEED HELP more then the reps!!! Hello First of all, you must ahve its original remote control to unlock FPA lock. If you have it, go through the folloing steps. * Hold down Menu button on the remote control, and the Volume Down button on the at the same time for at least 4 seconds. "The set won't say so, but the lock will be released". ** Hold down Zero button on the remote control, and the Volume Down button on the TV. The set won't say so, but the lock will be released. *** Hold down Menu button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be released.
FPA stands for Front Panel Lock. It makes it so kids don't push all the buttons on the front of your TV. The power button on the TV will still work and the remote will still function as normal.
just had the same problem... found the old RCA remote in my house... put new batteries in it...used RCA remote.... hit menu... arrow down to preferences and hit "ok" on remote.....use arrow again to go down to FPA lock and hit ok to turn it off, hope this helps, hit menu again to remove menu from your screen

here is my solution. somebody either needs to give me a solution without a remote or fuckin mail me a remote. and if i ever run into these RCA dipshits, ima beat some ***** *** for puttin the damn lock on there in the first place.

Hey this same thing happened to me not too long ago and you just have to buy a Universal remote and program it (it should come with the codes to program it to your TV) I think the code is 704 or 702 for RCA... Anywho after that then you can turn your tv back on wit the remote and push menu and Preferences and then FPA off. Its just a parental control block so your kids cant touch the tv buttons and mess with your settings.
