My built in Gateway webcam is showing camera not found

When you went to the Gateway website and downloaded drivers, did you notice that under drivers there was nothing for the webcam? Use this link and download the webcam application under Applications tab. The driver is included in the application.

Camera is not built into a desktop. What computer do you really have?

If you did a factory reset ,and i wont work stll ,then you have a hardware failure
and is either a loose connection or a bad webcam that needs to be replaced ,cheap on ebay ,but then gain to be honest ,could be a lot things including a motheboard component ,

is this a laptop or in a monitor connected to the tower of a desktop?
the webcams usually are located in the Control Panel of the Start button box. in control panel look for hardware devices, cameras, etc and click on that choice. it should list your webcam. it may be in the Programs list of the Start button(All Programs). It will be listed by the model number or manufacturer name. click on it to run the program if it is found. read the instructions or 'read me' file if listed under your webcam listing

Webcam doesn't record sound,try a microphone,and make sure that sound recording software is running when you record sound

does the webcam show up in device manager with a yellow exclaimation mark? If it isn't in there at all, I wonder if it can be disabled in the BIOS perhaps?

The manufacturer doesn't give the specs of the cam, but it does have a built-in web cam. The full specifications are listed at this link on Gateway's site.

If its vista just press start and type in "camera assistant software"and press it.

Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on
Audio Settings
and set the Microphone and Speakers
to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera if installed properly
will come up and show a picture.
Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.
