4) change the channel - 11, SSID - any name(make sure u change the name) - apply changes

5)under wireless - click security - select security mode - WPA/WPA2 - make up a pswd besides Password(PSK) or Pre-Shared Key(PSK) - uncheck Obscure PSK - apply changes

6)under wireless - click Wifi Protected Setup(WPS) - change the Wifi Protected Setup to disabled - apply changes.

SOURCE: How do I security enable my Belkin router?

Hi there,
Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless router. DO NOT use a wireless connection, use a cable.
Open your web browser and type the IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.

Click Login on the top of the page to login to the router. By default the Password is left blank, click Submit.
Click Security under Wireless menu.
Under Security, Select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bit WEP).
Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you. Example (0102030405060708090a0b0c)
Apply the settings.
Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure your wireless computers with the same key.
Remember to set an admin password before you close down, other vice anyone can access you router and change the setup and admin password.
/regards

SOURCE: unable to connect to internet by my zonet

Do you know the network key of the router? If you do and still you won't be able to connect, modify the router and try changing the network key.

If the security that's set to the router is WPA-PSK, try changing it to WEP and create a new network key. If same problem occurs, try changing the channel.

Another option is to reset the router to it's factory default and reconfigure the router.

Last option, perform a firmware upgrade and this should resolves the problem.

NOTE: Make sure to try different laptops before modifying the router.

Have a great day!

My Net ear wireless is not enabled, I did all of the set up, my phone line and wireless fax/printer is on but my laptop and I phone can't find the internet

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key) To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I put in the wireless router and I'm able to access from my computer but I my laptop can't locate. What do I need to do?

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Win xp desktop connected to wrt54gs router wants laptop running win 7 to connect wirelessly

We need to know the wireless settings on your router before configuring the laptop.

To check the wireless settings, access the setup page of the router by using the desktop's internet browser. In the address bar, type 192.168.1.1.

Default login is: leave the username blank, then the password is admin.

Once you are in the setup page, go to the Wireless tab.

Take note of the wireless network name (SSID).

Then go to the Wireless Security tab. Take note of the wireless security settings and the network key (if wireless security is enabled).

On your laptop, in the lower right corner of your screen you will see an icon that looks like this moz-screenshot-1.jpgc147bd5.png.

Click the icon and you will see a list of available networks.

Select the SSID of your router then click connect.

If the wireless security is enabled, it will ask for the security key. Type the wireless network key, then click ok.

It will then connect wirelessly.

Good luck!

I am trying to setup up my wireless router so it will connect with a laptop i already have two desktops connecting to the internet but the laptop will not connect

things to check:

1. is your wireless network adapter on your laptop enabled? check under network connections and check the status of the wireless adapter, enable if required. (it could be disabled or the switch (if the adapter is built in) may be off.

2. once enabled configure your network adater to receive network configuration automatically, go into the network adapter properties, go down to protocol tcp/ip, select it and then click the properties button, select the "obtain and Ip address automatically" and select " obtain DNS server ip address automatically" hit ok, and ok again,

3. does the router have any key configured. if your router was set up by someone and this person configured some basic security on your touer he/she should've given you a network key and router name, that's how you can connect wirelessly to your router. find that info and attempt to connect the router by going into your wireless networks. if the name of your router is not visible, it may still be there, so you may have to type it in.

I don't know how computer savy you are,... if you need further explanation on any of the points above.. feel free to ask... and we'll guide you further or you find out what version your router is (ex, v1, v2, v3..v9) and check the documentation for your specific router's set up and user guide from this link

good luck!

good luck!

Wireless configure laptop

You may be getting a little mixed up; the SSID is the dispayable name of the router over a network and the code you may be refering to is the WEP or passkey for security. First go into your routers settings and ensure that the DHCP is enabled to automatically give the laptop an IP address. Check your laptop wireless adapter/reciever is set in the properties to obtain IP adress automatically. Turn off any encryption you have running on the router and restart both router and laptop. When laptop boots it should again find all the wireless networks in you locality, then click on your network and click connect. If all works fine go into router again and then set up security key and note whether it is an 'open' or 'shared' network access as you may need to input this into your laptop if it is unable to reconnect after the restart. Also if your wifi signal is relatively low, it will not allow a connection to the internet as it is unable to send data at a low signal rate. If you originally ran the router via an RJ45 network cable, you may need to clear the dns from your laptop, click Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns and restart your laptop to give it a new ip address and dns address.
