The Samsung (syncMaster 931cw) LCD stopped working and when i opened it there was a bulged capacitor which i replaced. When i turn it own it then worked for about ten minutes and off again. When i turn it on, i would work for about ten minutes and go off again. The next time i turn it on now, it stays on permenantly but with series of horizontal red lines across the screen. I've checked the nap connecting the display screen to the mainboard but the lines wouldn't disappear. Checked any other connections but still the lines even increase from two lines to four. two at extreme top and bottom, so i was wondering whether this could actually be solved or it's the life span of the LCD. Thanks for any possible ideas.

Sounds like a bad connection on a ribbon cable or plug comming or going to the LCD display. This is something you should not try to fix as these circuits are very very fradgile and you can easily break or tear a ribbon cable . Call the manufacturer to get a tech to assit you. Good Luck

John, Samsung has been having very serious problems with the CCD imagers in their camcorders for some time now. I would give them a call and let them know how disappointed you are in the camera. Almost all manufacturers having this problem are repairing the cameras at no charge to the customer. Good luck to you! Joe Weibel customelectronics.org

The set is under a year old and is under warranty. The LVDS cable inside these sets have a history of coming loose. The problem could be the panel. Either way, the set is the problem and needs to be looked at. This set is worked on in the home and does not need to be taken to a shop, so, you can still use it. Contact Samsung at: 1-800-SAMSUNG Hope this helps.

You can plug it straight to a PC via a cable with stereo lack at one end to go into the video camera, and a mono jack (sound card) and phono (TV card) at the other end.

Samsung's LCD monitor SyncMaster 740N; backlight failed, I replaced bulging capacitors on PSU and burnt fuse but backlight is still not coming on

There is a inverter transformer on the board that may be defective that generates the high voltage that drives the lamp, you may end up having to replace the whole inverter board to get it working again.

Problem with sansung syncmaster 931b off/on switch. I have to turn it off/on about 12 to 20 times before it stays on. Thanks Bob.

Hello,

Your power supply board is not yet dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

My Samsung SyncMaster 171N starts up with the computer and stays on but the video dissapears within seconds until i turn it off and back on again at which time it just repeats... what's the problem and how...

Look for bad caps (leaking/bulging tops) as shown in my albums, it is very common problem on all brands of LCD monitors.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

510n syncmaster samsung monitor display flickers

Open the monitor, examine the circuit boards. Look for small components that look like small cans, these are capacitors. If you see any that look bulged on top, then your problem can probably be solved by replacing these. Check out the following sites;

Follow the directions and good luck!

I'm using a Samsung T240HDTV. The screen goes to very dark frequently so that I can hardly see the image, after I turn it on. I guess may be something wrong with the backlight. Can somebody help me out...

The problem is probably not with the backlight, rather the inverter that powers the backlight. If you open the back of the lcd so that you can see the circuit board you might see several bulging, or blown capacitors. This is a common problem with lcds. If you replace the capacitors the problem should go away.

Samsung syncmaster 226BW no backlight

Look for any bulging capacitors, instead of a flat top they will look "pregnant".

If you see any of those then replace them with capacitors of the same UF rating and the voltage needs to be either the same or higher.

If you dont see any bulging capacitors or burnt parts, then its got be the LCD at that point thats not staying on and the cost to replace the LCD is as much if not more then to just get another monitor.
