My computer does not recognize the Fanton titanium drive. It was working properly for last 2 years and contains and all of a sudden I cannot see it's drive location once I connect it to multiple computers in my household.

I suspect that one of my teenagers "moved" a file instead of copying it and somehow corrupted the file structure. By the way, I have already tried to see if it is a problem that can be fixed by assigning a drive using Disk MGMT. It is not recognized there either.

HD-PE250U2 had it for 3 years - very much loved and working last night. Computer will not recognise it this morning - but power and blue lights are on. Computer does not register the 'name' of

Either the hard drive went bad or the electronics of the enclosure went fubar. Suggest you remove HD and directly connect it to your desktop computer to see if the cmos recognizes it along with the OS. If so you can access your data. If not, the drive is ng - if the drive at least spins and is recognized you may be able to retrieve the contents using windows explorer. If unit will not spin you are in deep doo doo.
Do not format - that will erase everything - try to access the data.

I have an external TFD500U16 and it has been running fine for the last 3 years now all of a sudden my desktop no longer sees it. I get a blue light and hear the drive spin but my disktop doesn't see it...

Either the hard drive inside the case is bad, or the board the controls the drive is bad. The only way you can find out if the drive is good is to open up the case and remove the hard drive, then plug it into another case you buy at your local computer supply store. However depending on the case this might break the case, it should be used as a last resort for saving your data.

Is this an inbuilt drive or an external drive? If you're using USB, it needs a USB connection. It shouldn't need drivers as the computer will automatically detect a hard drive.

Have you tried connecting to a completely different computer to see if that recognised it?

Fantom 120 GB harddrive stopped working

My problem and my solution
-Fantom Drives 200GB was working correct on desktop which runs Windows XP
-Connected it to a laptop which runs Vista and the drive became undecteable by both platforms. It showed up on Vista's device manager for a hot second and then vanished all together.
-Changed the USB cable and still no go
-Finally, I made the decision to void the warranty by opening it and connecting it directly to my CPU and there it all was. 170GB worth of data. Same as what scott201201 is suggesting above.
-Moral of this story...."Backup your "backup".

Advise. Please make sure to read the warranty on your product you may be able to send it back to the company if it is under waranty. I read on another blog that the miniboard in the case where the usb connects to the device was faulty and needed repair. I know this is the same with mine because it works perfection when connected directly to the desktop.

Good luck techies

Incessent beeping and won't boot

you told that your PC was ok last night. and again told at morning when you started it then it started giving beep. there may have 2-3 problems.

1. your processor has become loose, so unplug and plug the processor again correctly.

2. cooling fan can't cool the heat sinker properly. so test it that if the cooling fan is working properly.

3. The RAM can be loose. So test the RAM. Unplug the RAM and then plug it perfectly.

but you told that you PC is starting and then shutting down giving a beep. so i think you PC problem is number 2. and I hope you follow the number 2.
