Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I'm running Windows XP, trying to connect camera to PC but PC doesn't recognize camera. How can I fix this?... GE A1250 camera

Take the memory card out and use a USB card reader to access your photos/videos. It's simpler and faster than connecting the camera itself.

Panasonic DMC-FZ18. Unable to download pictures to Camera and Scanner Wizard -

It would appear that DMC-FZ18 cannot reliably communicate with Windows XP. However if SD card is removed from camera and connected directly to computer there is no problem.

Windows XP doesn't recognize my new Canon SD1100 camera even after loading software as instructed.

It is very simple you guys! I had the same problem with my Windows XP SP3 and SOLVE IT EASY!

1. Unplug all your USB devices. If you have hubs, unplug only the devices attached to the hub, not the hub from the computer.

2. Open the registry and delete the following 6 branches.
H_L_M\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB

H_L_M\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USBPRINT

H_L_M\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USBSTOR

H_L_M\System\ControlSet002\Enum\USB

H_L_M\System\ControlSet002\Enum\USBPRINT

H_L_M\System\ControlSet002\Enum\USBSTOR

3. Restart your computer and attach one by one your USB devices. If you have hubs, first let the OS to recognize your hubs, then attach the USB devices.

Your Digital Camera should be recognized immediately by the system. If you don't have your Digital Camera software installed you can use Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard to upload your photos.

My nikon camera

If the software is loaded in the computer - take it out. Make sure you have the camers set to upload. Card is in Battery in good contition. Plug camera in computer, Reboot the computer. Camera/Scanner Wizard should come up[on XP or 2000/Me only ] if you have 98 or Vista then there is a USB driver potential problem.

Download movie by Kodak Easyshare

Instead of using the software... Try uninstalling the software and use the Microsoft Scanner and Camera wizard to transfer photos/video to your computer. It should recognize everything on your camera, and then you can copy and paste the photos/videos into whatever folder you specify. In my experience, Kodak's EasyShare software was able to recognize .MOV movies. If your computer is slow, you might want to wait a while for all the processing to be done and check if the videos were recognizeD
