Is the new cord/charger/transformer the EXACT same power specs? When your "dog ate your charger", it may have shorted out something in the Laptop? Was it plugged it when your dog ate it?
The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas:
Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery. The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.
i just checked for specific model there are no model such as 5612 there is 5610z and a 5620 but nothing between the 2 you have to give the correct model number... but i will give u a link which will take your to the driver download which you require
As it starts up.. hold down F8. An option for a Safe Mode should be available. You should choose that and once you get through to Windows go to Start > Run and type in "chkdsk c: \r"
Usually when you see this flashinf indicator it is a failing battery. IT maybe that some of the cells in the battery are failing and refusing to accept a charge, in that case the battery will actually damage the charger.
Remove your battery and power adapter. Now hold the power button for 10 seconds. This will drain any charge that had accumulated. Now try powering on your computer with the battery or the power cable.
hi alden..your wish are here..if you need to go back as normal settings your laptop go to Bios Menu then resets all factory settings.then exit and save..Thanks and Good Luck
The Aspires should have no issue booting without the battery installed. Have you done a static reset? (i.e. hold the power switch for 20/30 seconds without power or battery in) And the voltage range on the Aspire 5100 should be +19v - +20.5v on the inner part of the connector so it might be worth checking that the power adapter is outputing correctly.
If it works without battery, then it can be checked by testing the voltage between pins 1 and 6 on the battery (the ones either end) and should be 7.5v or above if the battery is charging correctly.
Hope that gives you a starting point, if you've done all those things already then appologies and best of luck with it.
The power supply is detecting a fault. You are probably correct thinking it has the wrong pinout.
Before you pull it apart, consider returning it to the seller if it was sold with incorrect information.
If you disassemble anything, your refund/replacement and warrantee will be voided.
