Unplug your Phone and plug in a regular un-powered phone. If it rings your cordless base station is bad and you will need a new one if it does not ring then there is a problem on your phone line and you need to contact your phone company. Note, the phone company will charge you for repairs inside your house.

EL52500 Phone base & 4 handsets have static, message Line in Use. Bought new phone, charged, connected - it says no line. Have dial tone at phone line into house.

Sounds like your phone has a short. If you see the message "line in use" call your number, is it busy, now unplug your phone and call your number again, is it ringing? Indicates a short, possibly in your equipment. As for message " no line" is the electric connected to the phone and did you check for dial tone in tat particular jack with a known, working phone first...just to make sure there's dt @ the jack. Good Luck :)

Phone displays error message "check tel line

The phone is not detecting dial tone on the line. Are you able to hear a dial tone? If not - disconnect the cable at the phone and plug into a different phone. If it works, then the problem is with the Panasonic phone - if it doesn't work - the problem is with the cable, jack, wiring, etc.

Error message CHECK TEL LINE my phone line is connected and i followed all the right steps to connect my handset to the base HELP!

This sort of issue requires you to check if the base or the phone line has a problem.

I prefer to use an old corded phone for testing. I also get a new RJ-11 cable. Unplug your phone base from the jack and check for dial tone when you plug in your test phone.

If you get a dial tone on the test phone, try the new cable with your cordless phone. If you still get that message, then the phone has failed. If it is under warranty, contact the manufacturer for repairs. If it is out of warranty, then determine if it is worth fixing or replacing. These phones are not designed to be fixed by the end user.

If you do not have a dial tone, take your test phone to another jack on the phone line. Check if there is a dial tone at that point. If there is a dial tone, the problem is at the first jack or the phone line to the jack.

If you still do not have a dial tone at the second jack, find where your telephone service comes in. Open the box and determine the type of connection used. If you are lucky, it will have RJ-11 connections. Plug your test phone into the jack and check for a dial tone. If you do not have a dial tone at this point, call your telephone company. They will fix the problem for free. If you find that the connection is not an RJ-11 type, call the phone company and have them test the line and repair it if needed.

If you have a dial tone at the service box, then you have an inside wiring problem. Inspect the visible wires for damage. Open the faceplates for the jacks and check for loose wires. There are two types of connectors. Screw type connectors need the wire stripped back a little then wrap around the screw and tighten. The other type is a punchdown jack. To repair a loose wire in this, you will need a punchdown tool. These are often available in hardware/home improvement stores in the wiring section. http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx has clear pictures of the wire color to pin pattern.

You may want a professional to check the wires inside the walls. Your telephone provider will do this for a fee.

I hope this helps.

My phone screen says check TEL line. I have two Uniden cordless phones and both of them have no dial tone.

First be sure you have dial tone at the jack. Use a corded phone to do this with. If you do have dial tone then be sure you have ac at the outlet that the transformer is plugged in to. If there is no dial tone at the jack...go to your interface box outside and check for dial tone there....if none call the phone company. If you do have dial tone then you need to check your wires to the jack...or have the phone company do it for you. If you don't have ac at the outlet....check your breaker box or have an electrician check for you.

Has new battery, but no dial-tone,

Replacing the battery reset the phone to the factory defaults, which means you'll have to restore the connection to the base in Menu-Setup

Phone off hook message

hi,

The most common reason for this message is when a dial-up modem is accessing the Internet on the same phone line. Just as two phone calls cannot come in at the same time, two devices cannot use the phone line at the same time.

f a broadband modem (such as DSL or ISDN) is on the same phone line and the message appears all the time, please contact your Internet provider for assistance. Even if a dial tone is present when listening to the phone line, the HP product may detect the broadband data connection at the higher line frequencies. Broadband modems must have a line filter installed to work correctly. Contact the telephone company for assistance. Please follow the directions below to verify functionality.
  1. Verify that the phone cable going into the HP fax product from the wall jack is a two-conductor cable type, not four-conductor. A two-conductor cable, like the one that ships with the HP product, has two copper leads in the connector. The connectors are usually clear, making it possible to see how many copper leads are inside the cable. Replace a four-conductor cable with a two-conductor cable.
  2. Disconnect the phone cable from the back of the HP product and the message should clear. If the message does not clear, unplug the power cable from the back of the unit, wait 15 seconds, and then plug in the power cable. If the message persists, see the "Problem still exists" section below.
  3. Disconnect the phone cable from the HP product and connect it to a single line phone. Pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone. If no dial tone is present, replace the phone cable. If a dial tone is still not present, a problem exists with the phone system. Continue with the steps below if a dial tone is present.
  4. Plug the phone cable back into the HP product and hang up any phones with a lifted handset.
  5. Disconnect, one at a time, other phones and devices using the same phone line. Check the HP product display after disconnecting each phone or device. If the message clears after disconnecting a phone or device from the line, the problem is with that phone or device.
  6. If the message still exists after unplugging all other phones or devices, see the "Problem still exists" section below.

No dial tone and "line in use " message

Try the simple things first. Try a different phone. In my case, I had the phone company check - outside was fine. After two hours my phone worked. I figured out what happened in my case. Both phones were dead (battery). I think one died with the phone off the hook. once the phones were fully charged, the phone worked.
