The copy has been alright but occasionally the page darkens, what we do is we clean the screen and the corona wire near the drum because it also darkens.
I have another problem because the small gear (21 teeth) on the developer easily worn-out. I have just replaced it last june and it has worn-out in a month time. Does the gear worn-out easily or there is a reason why the gear easily worn-out.

The dark copies could be that you need to clean your optics aswell, they are under the copy board glass. If the mirrors are dusty you will get alot of back groud in your copis and poor C.Q. I would just use a dry cloth to wipe the mirros off, should be three. Also, I would use a cloth with a little alchol on it to clean the lamp.. Almost forgot turn the copier OFF first. The small gear could be that there is another problem with the developing unit.... There may be a worn out bearing or seal... It should last longer.. Is this the second time it will need replacing? If so you may have to look alittle deeper
