This is usually due to grease buildup, or a worn or broken door open button or door open lever.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

It sounds like a bad filter capacitor on the circuit board, which we repair often, and possibly a bad door switch.

We would need to know you full model number from the tag in or on the unit.

FixYa does not currently notify us experts when someone replies to help requests, so you would need to post a new help request with the same info you did, but include your full model number.

Display scramled, light works, timer counts down but unit doesnt

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

Assuming your model number is DMT2420 (since that's the category under which your query was posted) then you likely also need a new secondary interlock (bottom door switch).

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you have a different model, please reply back or contact me directly with the correct model.

If you want to send your control panel assembly in for repair, you can note on the repair form that you need a new door switch and we'll throw one in at no charge.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Comes on when you open door, and now it finally quit working

I think you've put up with enough hassle from this unit and should get another one. Intermittant flakey problems are hard (read expensive) to fix.
