Canopus ADVC-110 A/D Converter (77010150105) Video Capture Logo
Posted on Feb 09, 2011

Dear Sir, I have a Canopus ADVC 110 which worked very good with Windows XP. I use an Audio Software Pyramix where ADVC 110 is used to capture the video . Now I changed my operating system to Windows 7 32 bit. My OS recognizes the IEEE firewire port & the device, But still the Audio software shows as no firewire device found, hence not able to capture the video. In Windows XP the firewire port takes OHCI COMPLIANT IEEE 1394 HOST CONTROLLER & the device is AVC COMPLIANT DV TAPE RECORDER/PLAYER. In Windows 7 the firewire port takes LSI OHCI COMPLIANT IEEE 1394 HOST CONTROLLER & the device is AV/C COMPLIANT TAPE RECORDER/PLAYER. I changed my IEEE driver to OHCI COMPLIANT IEEE 1394 HOST CONTROLLER (legacy) & many other option's & same with the device options still no luck. Windows 7 shows driver installed properly. I checked with my Audio Software & there is no problem. Shifted back to windows XP & every thing works properly. Hence reaching onto the conclusion that there is a driver compatibility problem in Windows 7. Upgrading to Windows 7 is a must for me as my software gets updated. Sir I have been using Canopus ADVC 110 for years without any problem. Kindly let me for any device or driver updates or alternate option's to solve this issue. Eagerly waiting for your reply. Regard's Shaikh M Latif

SOURCE: Can the Canopus ADVC-110 be reset

May i suggest that if the Canopus is stuck and both lights are on it may well be faulty but try this first.
slowly insert the fire wire into the back of the Canopus slowly does it when one light comes on stop inserting the fire wire and press input select till the lighth moves to the other side in my experiance digital to anolog, this may take a fiew goes and seem primative but it has worked for me and then eventialy the canopus corrects its self if this has been helpful please put a pound in the charity box of your choice and email [email protected] just to let me know good luck bye.

Can't capture just audio with no video

Capture it as a standard video clip (with audio), then export the audio track out of Final Cut. If you export as 48 KHz, 16-bit stereo, then there should be no loss in quality as the output is the same as the captured input.

No colour..

Sounds like you're feeding the ADVC the wrong broadcast format. Either PAL when the ADVC is in NTSC mode, or NTSC when the ADVC is in PAL mode.

Alternatively, your capture software may have a broadcast format setting as well, and that may not be matching what the ADVC is sending out. Remember that the ADVC does not do NTSC<->PAL format conversion, so NTSC analog input becomes NTSC DV, and PAL analog input becomes PAL DV.

Vhs pal video not working

Change the DIP switch to PAL, unplug the unit (no power), then plug it back in. You need to power-cycle the unit to after changing DIP switch settings.

Also make sure that your capture application is set to PAL mode, if there is a NTSC/PAL setting.
