You can check the remote by holding it very near an AM radio. Have the radio turned on and tuned about the middle of the AM broadcast band and push the button on your remote. You should hear a popping sound come through your radio speaker. If you can't hear anything, try moving the remote around and tuning the radio. If all fails then the remote is not working. If you DO hear the popping sounds then you have a problem with the IR receiver in you TV. There's a little plastic "window" in the front of your set where the IR signal enters. If dust has collected on the inside this could block the IR signals from entering. Also the IR receiver itself may have gone bad. The remote for this TV has to be an exact replacement. I've had this problem too by trying a substitute. Stargazer

Do in your menu have like VCR or DVD in the option area? If so then put on vcr or dvd. Also you can look for the channel in the add or erase area and move past the channel 2 by going the other way and see if the aux or video1 comes on then simply chose it.

is it a universal remote? Most remotes if they have dvd tv sat or vhs buttons you just hold the setup(code search) button and hold it until it blinks and stays red then hit which device you want to setup and if you dont have the code just press the channel up button after the first two steps untill it manipulates the device! and changes a channel or radio station or what knot.GOOD LUCK!!
