JVC 56in. is broken

Sounds like the TV needs some type of serivice. But just to cover your bases try unplunging it from the power from the wall and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Then plug it back in to the power and try to turn it on using the power button on TV rather then the remote. See if that works. If it doesnt call JVC.

disconnect power to the convergence module if thump go away replace convergence ic's.

I hate to tell you this but its a good chance its your light engine,if the dots begin to spread over the TV it is the Light engine.

you need to change converance chips do both STK392-120 you can also use 150

The problem is one of the video drive IC's on the crt boards is bad. These IC's are located behind the front speaker grille. The board connected to the bottom of the crt's will have these ic's on them. They will be screwed into a metal "heatsink" The part number is TDA6111Q
