Question about Bosch BC230 96 Volt To 24 Volt Stick And Pod Style Dual Bay 30 Minute Battery Charger
If you cant find a schematic / circuit diagram from the manufacturer or a source such as Manualslib.com, here's another hack you can try, thanks to a knowledgeable member on an electronics forum:
Remove resistor from PCB.
Using a fine file or craft-knife, scrape surface paint at center of resistor, until you see silvery metal. If its a metal film resistor the foil strip is helix-wound around the ceramic body of the resistor.
If its wire wound you'll see wire instead of foil. Carbon resistors will have a black, carbon track.
Once exposed, set your multi-meter to ohms, in this case, range should be at least 100 K.
Measure R from exposed part to leg A of resistor.
Then R from exposed part to leg B.
At least one of these should show a reading of half the resistor's total value.
Multiply this by 2 to get (approximate) full value in ohms.
To confirm, try to clean / lightly scrape burnt color-bands to match the color coding to the calculated value.
Eg 180 K should read 90 K at halfway test-point.
For a four-band device this 180 K is 18 0000 ohms so first three bands are brown(1) grey(8) yellow(10^4).
Fourth band is tolerance (of value accuracy), usually gold(~5%) or silver(~10%).
Bands always start nearest one lead.
Power rating / wattage can be determined by physical body dimensions.
