You need the slide attachment, Read the Manual by clicking below.

And the adapter should be included in the box which you purchased

Epson perfection 2580 scanner will not start. Programs installed w/cd. Epson updates added. Just says" scanner can not start"

The first thing to try: a new USB cable and a different port. (If you are using a hub, try directly connecting to the computer). What does the device manager say about the scanner? (In Windows, access from the Control Panel > Hardware. Exact directions depend on the OS version.)

Check the transport lock on the bottom of the scanner - do not put the scanner on its side when you check the lock.

Make sure the scanner was on and had already warmed up (stopped blinking) before you tried to start the scanner software (either by the buttons or from the scanner). You may want to reboot the computer (in case the computer thinks one program has locked access to the scanner).

I hope this helps.

(scanners require two-way communication with the computer and a bad cable will stop the scan even when the computer sees the scanner and the software installed without a problem.)

I have an epson 2580 it now produces somewhat

The only way you're going to know if it's the scanner or the driver for sure is to install it on say an XP machine and see what results you get. If it's still dark, it's the scanner, if not, it's the driver.

File settings dialog box is too high on screen to read, doesn't drag down

Go to the display properties of your computer and change the resolution.

Goodluck.

How to scan a slide

Hi Arlene,

Have a look here:

http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/per248/per248bb.pdf

This is the quick reference card that would have been supplied with the scanner, scroll through the information to page 5 which tells you how to scan film or slides.

If you want the full manual and information then have a look here:

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Doc&oid=41624&prodoid=46253280

I hope that helps.
