Laptop dead - need to rescue data from the hard drive

I m also suffering from same problem on aspire 4310. When the problem occurs, I remove the battery for an minute and insert again.... This trick have solved my problem. Try the same trick on your laptop and see that whether it works or not... Otherwise get it serviced....

If you are in need of service on your computer, you may always bring it into your local Best Buy™ store location for service and repairs. Geek Squad® agents should be able to provide you with assistance under the manufacturer's warranty, as long as you are able to provide proof of purchase. Typically, a copy of your original receipt or Best Buy Performance Service Plan information is all that's needed in order to verify your warranty coverage.

You may wish to back up any important files you need prior to bringing the unit into your local store however, as software and data recovery work is typically not included in most manufacturer's coverage. Geek Squad® agents can always provide you with this service if necessary, but please remember that operating system and data backup services are an additional charge.

Additionally, the type of noise your hard drive is making can often be an indicator of how quickly you should seek assistance. Any kind of grinding or clicking noises made by the hard drive can often be signs of a serious problem, which may require the hard drive to be replaced.

The transfer cable is usually used when you buy a new computer and you just need to transfer a bunch of data from one computer to the next. It comes with simple software to easily transfer your data.

The USB Flash Drive is used when you only have a small amount of data to transfer. A lot of people use it as extra storage if they need to constantly use data from multiple computers or if they always want to have a particualr file handy.

An external Hard Drive is most commonly used for backing up data or when you need to transfer a lot of data but you won't be able to have both of them right next to each other.

And finally, if you don't want to deal with the hassle of any of these solutions, you can take it to a tech center like Best Buy's Geek Squad who can transfer the data for you.
