I bought a replacement hp battery for my HP Pavillion zv5000 a year ago. It was working fine for about 6-8 months. Then, it seemed to stopped storing energy even when the charging light stopped and Windows XP showed that it was 100 percent charged. Ultimately, it just stopped working completely. A full charged battery only last me for 4 to 5 minutes or les, and my money went down the drain! Is there a fix or should I just buy another one and hope it will last?

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

My HP pavillion w XP home OS keeps shutting

I have just tried to fix on of these.
Shuts down for no reason, the more you try and use it,the quicker it shuts down.
I cleaned the fans, refitted the heatsink and CPU, cleared out all virus/malware infections, thought i had fixed it, it ran for 1 hour in safe mode.
I rebooted and it shut down after 5 minutes.
It seems this model is prone to damage to some solder joints after overheating.
You can fix the solder, but it just breaks it again after about 3 months.
You may get it working longer if you use a laptop cooler stand.
My advice is to sell it for spares and get shut

I got an hp pavillion zv5000 dont have power on / bios passw

Sorry to say, but I think you'll need to contact HP support on this. They have a great chat feature that they can help you on.

I just think most people will be hesitant to assist you with bypassing passwords, but I could be wrong!

Hope this helps, anyway.

Built in speakers not working on my HP pavillion zv5000, sound only through earphones plugged in.

Try to check your settings in the control panel sound hardware .Maybe its disconnected or there are wires that has been cut-off. Try to check also your volume settings in the task bar. Maybe its set to low or minimum volume.

Laptop

please check first that does the notebook work fine on the battery mode.
if system does not work on battery mode also it is a fault of the board that would have to be replaced

if it works fine on battery, then the problem could be with the adapter
to check the same, please try using another adapter or the same adapter on another hp notebook.
if the adapter does not work on another notebook, please get the adapter replaced.
