Maybe check the belt, i it is stretched it will not turn properly. Also check to see if there is a reset button. If so push the button. Chris

Check bag light on and bag fine. also seems like it is shooting stuff out of vent on top

Hi!, It's Jim with Crucial Vacuum,

Often times when your vacuums bag light remains on even after installing a new bag there is an air flow problem within your vacuum, or clog. This would explain why there is debris shooting out of your vacuums top vent.

Remove your vacuums bag and check to see if there are any clogs where the bag would attach normally. Clear out any noticeable debris.

While you're looking for clogs, check your vacuums hose, brush roll and filters. Stretch your vacuums hose out completely to unearth any debris. Manually spin your brush roll to help release any clogs, and wash your filters, but be sure to allow them to fully dry before re-installing them.

This should undo any clogs in your vacuum and cause your bag light to turn off.

What to do when your vacuum brush stops spinning

Household vacuums come in all shapes and varieties, but many of them are similar on the inside. There is often a brush running across the length of the vacuum's nozzle, and it spins as the vacuum runs to help **** up debris. But sometimes the brush will stop running, and you'll notice a severe decline in your vacuum's performance.

Usually when the brush stops spinning, it's because something inside the vacuum is binding it up. Dirt can get lodged inside, and hair can get wrapped around a shaft. If there is too much pressure, the drive belt can even snap.

You can usually see and clean the brush just by turning the vacuum upside down, but to get to the other internal parts you have to take the vacuum apart. On canister vacuums, this is usually pretty easy because it's just the nozzle that needs to come apart. Full-size vacuums can be taken apart as well, but the process can sometimes be more involved.

If you can get the nozzle or the vacuum's base apart and get to the parts inside, you should see the brush (which is part of a long shaft), a drive belt, and some sort of mechanism that drives the brush, which is commonly a paddle or a motor.

Hair can get caught up in any of these components and cause them to not be able to spin, as can dirt and other debris. If you clean all of the components out and put the vacuum back together, it should work just fine. The brush, over time, may become frayed or damaged, and the drive belt sometimes will snap, but otherwise a good cleaning will usually make your vacuum run as good as new.

Reset button or Fuse on my Infinity?

Ok, I took it apart, cleared the clog out, and put it back together. It wouldn't switch to "carpet". Got no answer on my question. Took it apart again, only I went further. Took apart the bottom - brush out, all inside bottom parts out, cleaned all that part of vac. No clogs down there. Ran the carpet/bare floor switch back and forth several times while I had it apart. Put it all back together and it worked fine. Still didn't find a fuse or reset button...

Weak suction on rainbow se vacuum

Check for clogs in the nozzle air passages (remove bottom plate)
Check for clogs in the wand
Check for clogs in the hose (trow in a pebble or a penny and see if it comes out the other end)
Make sure separator is clean.
Remove exhaust cap (sometimes there is a sponge in the cap that gets disty and does not let the air pass through).Have in mind that it will not pick up well if the suction and the belt is good but brush roll bristles are worn and too short.

Good Luck,
Rocky

Hep! My 3 month old Hoover Mach 5 doesn't pick up!

What is happening is the secondary filters, HEPA and the canister all need to be cleaned. This is vital. What the vacuum repair people are keeping from you is that tidbit of wisdom. This particular vacuum is picky about airflow. Pull the canister, and on the body of the vacuum on top of where the canister sits are the secondary filters. There should be a sticker explaining how to remove them. Clean them throuougly, mine was filthy. Make sure you clean the canister by unlocking it and cleaning out the micro holes and the cone end. Mine was completely plugged. Now brush the dirty side of the HEPA filter with the combo tool. Let the secondary filters dry completely (you can blow dry them on cold) Re-install everything, and the vacuum will run like brand new. I vacuumed the whole house after I completed this maintainence and it works like a champ. Don't return this vac until you clean it completely.

No spinning.

Most common problem when the brushes stop spinning on this model or any "SpinScub" model is that screen filter is clogged as suggested above. If that isn't your problem then likely the turbine has gone bad. Some genius at Hoover designed a metal gear to drive a Nylon gear (Inside the black part that says "Assembled in Mexico". If the brushes jam hard and sudden, the metal gear just shaves the nylon right off. Solution: You will need a new turbine unit. Cost for the part is about $36, installation takes about 15 minutes (about 6 screws and two tubes).
I refurbish and repair vacuums and steam cleaners for a living and see this all the time.

Brushes don't spin but it still has suction

The brushes are usually connected to a motor by a rubber belt. These can wear out and snap (particularly if the brushes are clogged with hair). Usually the bottom of the vacuum can be removed by undooing a few screws and gently pulling it downwards. If the bottom doesn't want to come off, hunt around for any screws you may have missed - the designers seem to think it's funny to hide them. Once the bottom is off, check the belt and remove any hair wrapped around the ends of the brush bar. If the belt is broken you will need to find a replacement.
