My garage doors face east, aind when the sun is shining one of the doors will not go down unless we press and hold the main button. The remotes will not lower the door at all when the sun is shining toward the door. What can I do to fix that? Thanks

Richard, what is the make of your GD Opener unit? However, make sure the antena wire on the unit is turned up. 2. sometimes direct sun on the sensors prevent operation from the remote. 3.adjust sensors on both sides making sure the green or red lights are on.4. check the remote battery ensuring red light works when you press the remote button. 5. finally, has on vacation switch on the unit has not been switched on. Garage doors will either have a manual sync. On the side of the main unit where the lights are you may see a bunch of toggle switches. These are the manual switches to configure your doors "code" Otherwise the door will be digital sync. In this type you will usually press and release the sync button on the garage door unit then press and release the sync button on the remote.
Hold any of the buttons down while you press the door opener remote and wait for alight in the dash to flash that the code has been learned by the car. You may also google "HOMELINK" programming for more info.
If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Make sure one of the lights on the sensors is not flickering ever so slightly. Very hard to see sometimes. Tweak them a little. Make sure the sensors are tight in their brackets so that one of them isn't moving when the door is closing. Another thing to check is that the sun is not shining on one of the sensor lens. Use something so shade them without blocking the door. If this is the case you can move them back away from the door or make a shade out of the center roll of toilet tissue.
Holding the smart/learn button in for 6 seconds erases the memory. To program your remotes hold the button on the remote down and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Do this for each of your remotes.
Make sure the brackets for the sensors are tight and the small light on the sensors is not blinking ever so slightly. You also might try shading the sensor so that the sun is not shining directly into the lens.
You cannot bypass the sensors but you can try reversing their position so that the sun isn't hitting the receiving unit. You can also move them back from the door or use something like the tube inside a roll of toilet tissue to shade the lens.
your garage door has saftey sensors at the door these are photo eyes in the owners manuel that came with the opener that has pictures in it which would help the photo eyes need to be clear of debri and aimed at each other with no obstruction there are leds on each sensor and when aimes properly they should be light if i remember correctly if you can not get them to light then you may have to replace the sensors
I have a Liftmaster garage door that won't go down unless you press and hold the wall button. The sensor lights are both on. The green light on the unit flashes unless I press the reset button. As soon as you press the wall button it flashes again and the door won't go down unless you hold the button the whole time. The remote wont' make it go down either. It begins to sometimes and retracts, but sometimes the light bulb just flashes (like it is obstructed). I tried replacing the wall switch and that did nothing. Help!
