The power outlet on my IC Power laptop is not functioning. When I plug in the power cord it is very loose. I used to have to move it around and prop it to get conection but that no longer works. I tried another power cord and it's the same. Presently I can't use the computer. Is this power outlet fixable? Is it a do it yourself? What about parts? I have a perfectly good computer that I cannot charge. Help. Thanks Jim

Thanks Ekse, I don't have it with me at the moment but it is an IP power model CN5560 if you did not get this already.

If it needs a jax replacement then any local repair shop should be able to help? Maybe I'll buy the part in advance.

    Jim

Hello,

so its most likely a problem with just the jax on the laptops end, you would have to take the unit apart entirely and re-solder the connector or replace it to a new one, you can find a replacement from ebay.

if you could post me the brand and model I'll take a look.

  • Ekse Feb 07, 2011

a repair shop will charge you 75$ minimum for the replacement, you can look up a matching power jack from ebay for less than 10$ and do it yourself if you have a soldering iron and know how to use one.

you have a strange brand / model laptop there, haven't seen many of these. I don't have a service manual for this machine as i've never heard of them before.

I can give you a service manual for almost any other brand, but not for this one, it is a major operation to take apart the entire laptop as thats the only way to get the motherboard out and to be able to touch the power jack.

if you've never taken anything apart, you will most certainly want to consider letting someone else do the whole thing. There will be a ton of screws and different parts that come out / off the laptop. it will be a puzzle to put back together without documentation or experience.

How to turn a laptop on Windows th it not coming on

If your laptop computer is not powering on it could be because the battery is dead or weak needs to be recharged. Or the power supply is bad and needs to be replaced. The hardware could be bad or the screen is not working and has to be replaced.

Acer Aspire 5536 only gives black screen when i connect power supply

  • Nothing is more annoying than a monitor that refuses to turn on. Make sure your Acer monitor is plugged in to a functioning outlet. If it's plugged into a power strip, try replacing it with a new one or moving the plug to a different outlet. Ensure that both ends of the power cable are plugged in firmly and securely, and that the connection to the monitor is not loose.
Cable Issues
  • Your Acer LCD monitor will usually accept DVI and VGA inputs. If you have an older computer, a VGA cable should work fine. If it doesn't have a VGA port, you'll need to obtain an inexpensive DVI to VGA adapter at your local computer store. A DVI cable, however, is compatible with most modern computers and offers superior picture quality over VGA. Make sure you're using the cable that's compatible with your system, and that you have the proper conversion adapter, if necessary.

My microwave/convection oven will not heat up, but the lights and clock work

Hello

Look to see if the microwave power cord is securely plugged into a live power outlet. The power cord cannot be loose for proper function. Move other appliances to a separate outlet if possible.

Replace or reset the circuit breaker or fuse if blown or tripped.

Unplug the microwave and wait several seconds before plugging it back in to reset.

Make sure there are no current functions in use. Press "Clear/Off" to cancel any other settings or programs already in progress.

Select a new cooking program and then select "Cook Time." Make a time selection and press the "Start/Pause" pad to begin cooking.

You have a DC connector problem:

Symptoms of a broken power jack
1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.
2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.
5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix the problem by re-soldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it

Every few months the compressor will not come on. It will try over and over but will not start. At the same time, the light does not come on when the door is opened. I can unplug the power cord and plug it...

Hi!!
The lighting circuit and the compressor electrical circuit are independent from each other once they go past the electrical terminal block, (where the power cord connects to, on the back of the fridge).
For the description of the problem, it sounds like you have a loose power cord terminal connection at the block, a defective power cord or power outlet.
Try connecting the fridge on the other power outlet (if it is connected to a regular dual outlet ), some times the contactors, over time, tend to loose the grip on the power cord plug and the contact is lost, when you remove the plug from the outlet and plug it back in, restores temporarily the contact again, or, the plug itself can be defective and loses contact. Replacing the power cord and using a different power outlet (even if it is a dual) will let you know if that where the problem was. If that doesn't solve the problem, let me know and will do some more troubleshooting.
Good Luck and keep me posted.

Toshiba Satellite P105-S6104: Will not turn on

Power issues are pretty typical with laptops as most time laptops are moved around alot and are not stationary. Here are a few possibliites that could be the reason for you not having power:

1. A/C cord is could possibly be bad. Attempt to use the cord on another outlet, then try to use the same cord on another similar laptop to see if power is transmitted. If cord is faulty, then purchase another cord.

2. A/C input adapter on laptop is faulty. The A/C input adapter is where you plug your A/C cord into the laptop. This can come from the input coming loose or wiring being loose or disconnected.

a. check to see if the part is loose by touching the part with your finger.
b. if you are not a professional, take the laptop to a certifiied computer repair shop.

3. If you are a professional or are comfortable opening the laptop (do bare in mind you opening the laptop yourself violates any warranty you may have), then look at the A/C input adapter to see if it is loose or if a wire was disconnected from the motherboard.

4. If you are a professional or are comfortable opening the laptop, another option would be to check the circuitry on the motherboard to see if there is a bad transistor or circuit on the motherboard.

I hope this was helpful and thank you for contacting the experts.

My tv goes off by itself, after a while it comes back on. two days ago it went off and i cant get it back on

There is an IC in the TV that controls all functions; power on\off, volume, menu functions, etc.

When this IC losses power it will turn off the TV.

When this IC regains power it will restore the TV to the last Known condtion before the power was lost (OFF or ON)

It is possible that this IC is defective and has intermmitant power or functionality. This would result in this intermittant off and on and why you cannot power it on suddenly.

Also, be aware if the outlet that the TV is connected to losses power you could get this symptom (same if the outlet has a loose connection with the TV power cord)

overall point is:
1. Ensure the wall outlet is in good condition and the TV
2. the TV power supply could have some issue
3. if not 1 and 2, the TVs main board may be defective.

Inspiron E1505 - ac power not always on when plugged in outlet

I've had both the battery and the cord die in my old Dell laptop. Assuming it's like mine and the light is on while the battery's charging and turns off when the it's full....

Dell batteries don't last more than a year or two, so my first question would be how old is the battery you are currently using? When a battery is dying, it essentially isn't able to use its full capacity. So in addition to lasting less than an hour or so, it will try to charge for 6-12 hours trying to get a full charge even though it can't. So the light will stay on until it gives up. It will start charging again if you unplug it and plug it in again. If this is the case, you can either replace the battery ($100+ bucks) or ignore it and don't use the battery.

If the power cord is going, it will only work at certain angles. Play around with wiggling and bending the cord (not TOO far though!!) to see if you can get the battery light to shut off when you move the cord in a certain direction. A new power cord/adapter will cost you around $50 I think, if that's the problem. Let me know if your problem doesn't seem like either of these.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Power supply malfunction?

Remove the battery and try the cord again. Complete with the moving it around. It sounds like you have already diagnosed the loose DC plug adaptor, but the battery could have gone terminal.
