Hello there,
I've recorded loads of stuff on hard drive and then copied it onto dvds (different types but mainly dvd-r disks). They play perfectly on the player itself but I've recently discovered they are not playable on any other player (I've tried 4 different players) or PC. Pretty disasterous situation because I've built up quite a collection of films and my HR suddenly developed a very annoying start-up problem - sometimes would start up only after about a dozen attempts. It looks like it's on the way out...
Does anyone know what could be the problem? Does it have anything to do with the compatability bitsetting the recorder uses to make discs only readable on itself. And if yes, how can I change it?
Many thanks in advance.
Viktor
Hi there,
not sure if this will solve your issue. But in order to be able to see the DVD recorded on the HR720 (or typically any other DVD recorder) you need to "lock" it. This is done in the File Manager Menu. The DVD recorder will ask you twice, whether you want to "lock" the disk. Once you have done that it will format the DVD like a normal DVD-Video, meaning it can be played on any regular DVD player. However, once locked you cannot re-open the DVD.
Hope this helps. Otherwise check in the user manual under "recording a DVD" - it is mentioned also there.

Many thanks for the post. The thing is my machine never asks me that or in fact anything else. It just copied the stuff onto the dvd and says 'finished copying' or something at the end and that's that.
I am not sure what you mean exactly by locking. Do you mean writing lead-out?
