I got my phone locked by mistake. I dont remember the PIN. It is asking for PUK. What is PUK?

PUK stands for Personal Unblocking Key. This is a uniqueeight digit code specific to your SIM card. This is required when the PINnumber to unlock your mobile phone is entered incorrectly 3 times. You are thengiven 10 attempts to enter your PUK code. If an incorrect PUK code is enteredafter the 10th attempt, you will block your SIM card permanently and willrequire a new SIM card from your mobile phone provider.
PUK codes can be obtained through the following ways - The PUK code is in your SIM card documentation Starter Pack.If you do not have this then -Please contact your phone service provider.
Your cell phone service provider can give you the PUK code once you give themyour account details and they have confirmed your identity.

You need to contact the network provider, the PUK is specific to your phone number and is related to the sim only. After a PIN has been enetered incorrectly 3 times it will request a PUK code which you will have 10 attempts. When contacting your network provider (o2, orange, t-mobile, etc.) they may ask security questions relating to your account.

This protects you from someone using your personal information or making calls if your cell phone is lost or stolen. You may see "PIN blocked" or Enter PUK code" on your cell phone display. The PUK code stands for PIN Unblocking Key. In the U.S., the PUK code is rarely provided when you get your subscription.

If you do not have your PUK code, contact the Customer Care customer again. Give them your phone number and once they are sure it is really you, they will give you the PUK code.
You will then be asked to set a new PIN code. Once you have your PUK be sure to keep it in a safe place

Do you see the power of passwords now? PIN and PUK are two security features provided by the service provider. And given wrong more than three times locks the SIM and renders it useless. You have to get another SIM for a small charge to retain the old number.

PUK codeand PIN Code: Pleasedont try more than 3 times.If you try more than 3 times the Sim will getlocked.And it will ask for PIN code.Both these PUK and PIN code can be givenonly by the network service provider. Please call the network service providerof your mobile.And ask him to provide the PUK code or PIN code.He will ask yousome basic details like name,date of birth for his verification.And hewill provide you the PUK and PINcode.This is done for free of cost.

I have entered the wrong PIN bu mistake in 'PIN check' option and my phone has got blocked. now it is asking for 'Enter PUK'. I dont know what is PUK and now no operations are being done without that code....
The PUK lock code is enabled on your SIM when you guess the SIM password
incorrectly too many times. You carrier can provide you with the unlock code.
Just call them and give them your SIM number.

My phone is asking for a puk...then it asks me to set up a new pin.....i have no idea what a puk is and I have never set up a pin....help
  • if its the PUK code you need contact your customer service...they are the only ones that have it. as far a setting up a pin you shouldnt have to but if its asking for one most all phones default phone lock code is 1111 but the phones sercurity default lock code is 0000 once you have the PUK code and have entered it....try the 1111 first then it will have you enter it again if that dont work try the 0000 If the incorrect lock code is entered more than 3 times the phone will display "ENTER PUK". just enter the PUK code again
