Samsung r530 laptop hard disk warning

Error message when you try to install Windows Vista on computer that has...

This problem occurs because Windows Vista cannot distinguish between ambiguous hard disks.

In versions of Microsoft Windows Setup that are earlier than Windows Vista Setup, hard disks are marked with distinct values to distinguish them. However, this method of distinguishing hard disks is no longer supported because of the potential for data corruption on hard disks.

Do you have more than one hard drive connected to your computer?

If you have two hard drives, remove the second hard drive and continue with the installation.

If that does not work, try to format the C: drive while installing the Vista operating system.

You need to select the "format" option from "advanced" within Vista installation.

Hi, I installed the windows service pack 2 on my ibm t30 and when it asked me to restart I did, but nothing comes on. The screen is blank and there is no sound. The fan just whirls away but the hard disk...

The hard disk may needs reseating so it makes proper electrical connection or the hard disk decided to fail at this time.
If the laptop does not boot up after reseating the hard drive, try going into the BIOS and check if the BIOS detects the hard disk, if the BIOS connot detect the hard disk then most likely the hard disk has failed.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Smart says hard driveabout to crash

Copy any important files now to another computer or DVD/CD or USB drive. The drive may fail soon. If you buy a new drive, some come with software which will allow you to copy one drive to another. You can buy a USB interface to have the new drive connected to the laptop and then run the software. HTH

No operating system found

If the error message says "No operating system found" it is most likely a faulty disk controller or a faulty hard disk.
Reseat the hard disk, if this doesn't work you need to test the hard disk another way. Remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If this computer sees this as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files then the hard disk is OK and the fault is the disk controller on the the 4115c laptop.
If the hard disk is not detected then the hard disk is faulty. You need to install a new hard disk, install Windows and the laptop's device drivers and programs to get a working laptop again.

Hp nx9110 laptop

There are several ways you can check if you have a working hard drive in your laptop.

1. Get into the BIOS configuration of your laptop, you may be able to see your laptop's configuration, and maybe even see your hard disk. This means your computer has been configured to work with the hard disk, but does not mean the hard disk is OK

2. If your laptop has a floppy disk attached then you can use a boot floppy disk and boot up in DOS. Then you can then run FDISK and then display the hard disk. If FDISK does not detect a hard disk the it is most likely dead.

3. If you can get access to a USB hard drive adapter cable or an IDE adapter cable that you can connect to a working computer's secondary IDE controller. THEN
Remove your laptop drive and connect and connect it to the USB adaptor or an IDE cable, (make sure you connect the drive correctly to the connector) then connect it to a working computer.
If you use an USB adapter, when you connect it to a working compute with XP or Vista operating system, and if the hard drive is OK then you will see the contents of the laptop hard drive.
If you connect the IDE cable to the secondary contriller and then boot up the working computer with XP or Vista operating system, if the laptop drive is OK you should see the contents of the laptop hard drive.
If you don't see the hard drive, then most likelt it is dead.
