What is the maximum memory capacity for the MX6027 model ?

Hello Marc,

The maximum is 1 GB. Standard, it comes installed with 256 MB but you upgrade with additional 256 MB or 512 MB memory modules. The modules you are looking for are:

256 MB DDR (1 x 256 MB) SODIMM (PC2700) 2.5v SYNC
512 MB DDR (1 x 256 MB) SODIMM (PC2700) 2.5v SYNC

There are lots of places on the web to find decent prices for this memory. I have included a few below.

http://www.memorystock.com/memory/GatewayMX6027.html

http://www.pcmemorystore.com/Gateway-M_Series_Notebooks-MX6027-ram.htm

http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/Gateway-M_Series_Notebooks-MX6030-memory.htm

This document includes instructions for replacing the memory. It's a simple straightforward process.

Hope this helps.

Have a blessed day.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A10-S129. It was working with 256 MB (2 x 128 MB). I wanted to upgrade it to 512 MB (2 x 256 MB). I bought 2 new 256 Modules and when changed it and turned on screen has...

If you get several beeps then there is a video problem. The video card uses shared RAM (part of the main RAM) and if the RAM is faulty the laptop won't boot up.
You might have incompatible RAM, try to use the same make and speed RAM as the original.
One of the RAM modules may be faulty.
Try installing one 256Mb RAM module then boot up the Toshiba, if it works the try the other RAM module.

HP Pavilion Media Center PC not detecting memory in slots 3 & 4.All memory works in slots 1 &2.Memory is all the same.

Info from the manual:

Memory configurations

You can install 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, and 1GB DDR SDRAM DIMMs into the DIMM sockets using the memory configurations in this section.

• Install only identical (the same type and size) DDR DIMM pairs

using the recommended configurations.

• Make sure that the memory frequency matches the CPU FSB

(Front Side Bus). Refer to the Memory frequency/CPU FSB

synchronization table on the next page.

• This motherboard does not support double-sided 16-bit DDR DIMMs.

• Do not create a three-DIMM configuration in dual-channel mode. The
third DIMM is ignored in the dual-channel operation.

RAM compatibilty

No, DDR 400 will not work. The best thing you can do is call Dell and give them your information. Model number and that kind of information and let them tell you what kind of ram you need. If you put the wrong type of ram in your machine it could cause major damage. There are so many different kinds of memory out there, not to mention high and low denisity. Your machine may use PC2700 high density and if you try to use PC2700 low density it will not work. One other thing that you can try is uninstall a stick of your ram and write down everything on the stickers and then go to some place like kingston memory and use their memory locator to find what you need.

MB starts up, CPU fan runs, after 5 seconds, one beep and MB off

It appears that the system is shutting down without you telling it to.
If it does this at a given time interval, the problem is most likely heat.
Can you boot the system with a start-up disk (a system disk) and have it keep running?
Your heat problem can be in the CPU or in the power supply. Have you checked the power supply fan to see if it's running?
Have you removed the heat sink and reapplied a good thermal grease?
