Yes, there is a drive belt in the bottom of your machine, if you can take the metal panel off of the bottom of your machine (unplugged of course!!!) you will see the belt and see if it has broken or slipped off .. here is a site that has replacement belts:

Hi Dary
Thank you for this , I was not to sure of where I was at with the site and backed out or so I thought as I was not sure how I was going tomake a payment. Anyway I had missed seeing the embedded model no on the bottom . Its a B M 3500 and my son found that he could view the bottom pulley through the slots and that the small spring circular clip that holds awasher on which keeps the belt on had gone weak and come of the shaft. I thnk I have this right. When you say take the metal plate off, I assume that the one down inside the maker. Has 2 screws holding it plus the screws around the wheel that the pan fits down onto, How does one fit a replacement spring clip back on under the shaft ? thanks so much for your help. It has been a tremendous machine great bread.
I'm not clear on a couple of things now. Are you saying you have a Sunbeam 5890 or some other model# (B M 3500) . Also I am not clear on what is/has come off. Is it the big wheel that the belt is on, or the other smaller wheel that the other end of the belt is on ( that drives the paddle). What I meant by the "metal plate" is the underside of your machine. There is usually a large metal floor plate that can be removed that the feet of your machine are attached to. That's the plate you need to take off and see if you can figure out what is loose. You may find your loose spring clip in there.
Sorry, I got my model numbers mixed-up! It is a Sunbeam BM3500. The problem was with the spring 'castle' (name?) washer on the bottom of the motor shaft. This washer/clip has come off and that let the cup washer that holds the belt up on the drive cog move down and slip-off. The problem now is that the body of the machine is one piece of plastic (with only very small cooling slots cut into it) with no way of opening the bottom to get a new washer/clip hammered down onto the motor driveshaft. The only way I can see of getting the body off is to remove the plastic piece around the bottons/digital screen, I'm just not sure which way to push or pull without ripping all the lugs off inside, any ideas?
Thanks for you replys and I hope I haven't wasted your time.
Ugh,,,the machines with the plastic casings are so difficult. I can't really offer any good guidance on them because my efforts on rarely ended well! Best Wishes, Daryl
Hi Daryl Thanks for yor time and knowledge. My son has managed to push the original spring clip back onto the pulley shaft. We have baked two loaves and if it falls off again we thing we might cut out a couple of the plastic bits between the slots directly beneath the end of shaft so that we can fit a new spring clip, be able to measure the shalf dia as well to get the right clip or one similar to the original. If and when anything else breaksdown most probably best to buy a replacement maker. At repair costs per hr this one might not be worth the outlay esp., given your experience. regards Harold.
Hi Harold,
If you have used your machine alot then you may indeed want to just replace it as bread machines have become fairly inexpensive. I sell lots of machines on line through ebay. Some are used and some are almost new. As you can tell I really enjoy bread machines and personally own several and it is a business for me. If you want replace your machine I can help you if you use paypal or a money order would work. If you ebay you can see some of the machines I am selling and have sold, I just need to send you the item #'s and then you can type the item #'s in the search bar. My machines come with a 7 day guarantee where you can bake in them several times, and if they don't perform you can return them for a full refund for everything paid including shipping. If you are interested in seeing some of my machines email me and I will send you some item #'s and you can look at them and see what they sold for. here is my email.... [email protected]
