Question about Vizio E421VA 42 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

I just bought the Vizio E421VA and I am contemplating take it back. The volume levels are horribly inconsistent. On some channels I can have the volume level at 2 and its loud, on others you put it to 20 to hear the voices. Watching movies the voices are hard to hear over the background music or sound. I have tried turning off the SRS TruVolume and it didnt make much if any difference. Is there any other options to adjust levels of the volume rather than the 4 options in the menu? I would rather not return the tv.

We have had the same problem and I suggested to Hubby that we had better return it soon. He did some research and we are trying this: use the TV remote and press the center button "Select", Choose Audio, Make sure True Volume is set to On. I've only been watching for an hour but it very well may have solved the problem. Hope it works.

I put the True Volume back to Off and it seems to be fine now. Go figure.

i'm having the same problem with our new vizio e421va. we've only had it a couple of days and i'm constantly having to turn the volume up and down. it's driving me nuts! after reading your comment, i just turned our truvolume OFF, and it already seems a little better. i would not have thought of that. i was thinking the truvolume on this set must be malfunctioning and was considering returning it. now i wonder if somehow the truvolume on/off indicator is switched, or is the truvolume feature just so poorly designed that it actually makes sound levels worse?

How do I fix my Vizio TV model E421VA? Details are below. It has a black screen and no audio.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

Sounds like a surge to me. Why not give Vizo call to see if anyone else is reporting the same problems. It's a fantastic tv.

They are not usually available except by authorized service centers as no parts are really sold and only circuit boards are available in most cases.
