Re-seat the hard drive, this may correct the problem.
If the go to the BIOS setting and check if the BIOS can detect the hard disk, if not the the hard disk is faulty.
To get your laptop working, replace the hard drive and install Windows on the new hard disk, then install the Acer laptop's device drivers and your programs.
To install the laptop's device drivers then -
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site.Make sure you select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version ofthe drivers you that require and it matches the Windows version that isinstalled on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -

You may need to download the drivers using a computer that has Internet access, then copy these drivers to the Acer and install these drivers.
