Question about Saitek X52 Flight Control System

1 Answer

I bought a new X52 Flight control system. After installing it, the throttle works fine but the Joystick doesn't work (altough the LEDs are on). I download the drivers from SAITEK website but it still does not work. I have a Windows Vista 32-bit PC.

I followed your instructions (go to control panel-joystick properties), but there is not a Calibration buttons or option as you can see at the picture included.

In the Saitek X52 Flight Stick Properties Windows, pressing Throttle buttons and movements are shown OK in the screen, but pressing Joystick buttons and movements are not shown in the screen. All the joystick LEDs are on, but the Joystick actions do not work at all.

I tried that in a Windows Vista Home PC and also in a Windows XP Pro PC, but in both of them I got the same behavior.

I also tried restarting the PC, reinstalling the drivers and updating the drivers from Saitek web page.

The d3drm.dll file was there in c:\windows\system32. Anyway I downloaded and put i there again. Reinstalled drivers but the problem was not fixed and the joystick continues without working at all.

Hello

Go to control panel.devices and printers.Find your joystick.right click on the icon then select game controller settings.then properties then settings then calibrate.

Once at calibrate follow the instructions on how to calibrate.

Also you may want to try shutting down your pc.Unplug your joystick.Restart the pc,once started plug your joystick back in, and let windows reinstall it.

Hope this helps

I have a X52 pro. Throttle works fine, but the lights on the stick are constanly flashing and the stick doesn't work

if your X52 is less than 2 years old and you have the receipt, it's under warranty. Call Saitek and they will take it back and fix it (no charge). Mine is more than 2 years old so I am out of luck.

My saitek x52 joystick wont work. Flashing lights every half second. Throttle works fine.

My X52 began doing this after hundreds of hours of use. Joystick lights flashing twice per second. Throttle operative but joystick (and buttons) not.

The problem was 2 wires inside the joystick base that had eventually been sawed in half by the sharp edge of the metal tube that carries the wires up into the stick. I have no doubt that this same issue could cause intermittent operation if just the insulation is worn off of more than one wire.

The fix: Remove the 4 screws from the base and lift the joystick assy out of the base. Inspect the wires where they emerge from the metal tube. You will find wires broken, or, insulation rubbed off. If you have broken wires, strip the ends and solder them together...you should have about 1/4 inch of "slop" up in the top end so you can pull the top wires down enough to strip and solder. If you re-insulate the solder splices with heat shrink or spaghetti tubing I would keep the amount used minimal...these wires need to remain somewhat flexible when the stick is being used.

Finally, I fixed the engineering defect that caused this in the first place by immobilizing the wire bundle with hot glue at the tube opening to prevent future contact with the sharp tube end. If your only problem was skinned insulation, this hot glue application may be all you need to do to keep the exposed conductors from contacting each other or the tube.

Speaking of "slop", you will also be contending with a bunch of silicone grease that lubricates the wire and mechanism.

I have Microsoft Flight Simulator X and a Satek X52 flight control, however I have problems with the throttle on all aircraft. I have to use the F-4 key - can you help?

You need to assign the throttle function correctly WITHIN FSX settings area itself. Also calibrate the joystick in windows first. If you are not familiar with assigning FSX functions to your joystick, check the Learning Center section within FSX for step-by-step details.

My joystick will not respond.

you have to plug the round tipped courd into the slot in both controllers, connecting both. you only plug one thing into your computer and that is the usb cord built into the throttle control.
