I bought my first RTD215 2 years ago but the dvd player got stuckand wont open nor play... I bought another unit same model and after 8 months the same thing happened.. the dvd player got stuck again but will play the same cd/dvd inside the dvd player.....Now, I have two units that I could not play the cd/dvd player.... What should I do.... This is the second email I am sending now but nobody come back to me to help me.....

If you really like the unit (disregarding the DVD player issues), maybe you could buy a GOOD stand-alone DVD or BluRay player and be ready for an upgrade in the electronics when the bug bites.

dvd player keeps saying no disc when I try to play a dvd.what can i do? worked fine until about 3 months ago. started to say no disc when disc inserted but after opening and closing 3 to 6 times it would read.now it just wont read. any ideas?
Nope. The laser mechanism seems to have developed a preference of its won and refuses to work with DVD media.
You have already done a firmware update so that is ng. Could be that when you updated it to play newer blue rays, the update messed up unit for dvd playback. Happens.
But do not sweat - that unit has a one year warranty - use it.
1. Press OPEN/CLOSE, and wait for the tray to open.
2. Use the remote control to input digital key '1', '1', '1', 'l' in that order. Kindly leave a few seconds between each entry, the microprocessor is slow with these entries. 3. Press number '7', '8' or '9' to display the current region code of the DVD player. OR 4. Press any number of '0' to '6' to set the required region code. The OSD will display the new region code of the DVD player. 5. Region '0' will be the setting for multi region 6. The region setting will be saved in the FLASH memory. 7. Press OPEN/CLOSE again, the DVD player will return to normal operation.
no solution...the unit is junk!
I've had one for about 6 months, played about 6 DVD's, and now it won't do anything at all! neither the button son the unit nor the remote will power it up. it won't do anything except open the lid.
You might not have the multi-region version of this dvd player, they do make them, but cost more. You might have the regular version. Someone posted the instructions on Amazon to make it region free.
To make it region code free follow these instruction:
1. Turn on the unit
2. Open the loading tray
3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
6. Press the down arrow once to enter the Preference page
5. Enter 138931 on the remote
6. You will now see the current region code displayed
7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or "0" for all regions
8. Press the "Play" button on the remote
Wish I could. I have the 4600 combo and the VCR works fine. The DVD stopped working many months ago and just yesterday started working fine again. Worked fine for two days and then stopped, picture froze, and all I got out of it, is the picture is loading. Wont give me back my DVD nohow, so have opened the case and stole it back. Tray will not open at all. Trying some repairs, will holler if succesful
Here's the support site with contact information. When you say it "quit working," how so? Does it spin up/power up? Are you having trouble playing DVDs? What model? It'll help to troubleshoot if you can give us more details.
sounds like you need to clean the laser lens. Try using a disc cleaner first and if that dosent work then take aprt and find the laser lens, take a clean q-tip and put a little alcohol and swab the lens very carefully Good luck
