I have noticed that Dewalt uses some vinyl orings in the trigger and the interior of the nailer that fail with time no mater if the gun is used or not. Vinyl orings will soften over time and will need to be replaced. I use buna or viton orings available from many suppliers including (oringsandmore.com). You will need to carefully measure for correct size. I use 2mmx 1.5mm orings on the trigger stem. Good luck
what I would recommend is removing the belt and running just the motor. I think that the bearings on the armature are seizing up and creating the noise. The fan bearing is hard to remove. Let me know if this is the case and I will give you directions on how to do it.
Try cleaning and oiling the slide,and make sure there is no debris on the slide when oiling,use wd 40 and then wipe it clean,then just use the air gun oil on the slide.
First does it retract after unplugging the air and if so I would look at the trigger valve assembly for a sticking plunger. If not then I would look at the firing valve in the cap. Let me know if I can help further.
I have heard complaints that this saw does not do well on angled cuts because of its low power. Try running a shorter and/or thicker extension cord and checking your input voltage. That's about all I can think of, hope it helps.
