I have two of these remotes and they are the same way, sticky, and the more you try and clean them just makes them worse.

I have 3 very sticky Casablanca Fan remotes. I called their customer service who had me try to remove the disgusting sticky surface with Lysol wipes, rubbing alcohol and vinegar, none of which worked. They then provided me with a link to purchase 3 new remotes at $40 each. My remotes are only 6 years old and used about 10 weeks out of the year in a vacation home. I told Casablanca that they lost a good customer as I currently own 5 of their fans. I will never buy another Casablanca or Hunter fan since they refuse to correct my sticky remote issue. The plastic is obviously breaking down and should be considered a manufacturing defect. I have a Harbor Breeze remote for a Harbor Breeze fan that is also 6 years old and that remote is like new. Don't waste your money on a Casablanca ceiling fan, you won't want to use the disgusting remote in about 4 years which is when mine started feeling sticky.

I have the same problem; the remote has become quite disgusting to touch. I recently sent a complaint to the company via the customer service page on the Casablanca Fan web site. They are sending a replacement, no questions asked, so clearly the problem is known to them and they have no solution other than replacement.

Can not change channles with the up and down arrows

William,
Sticky buttons or entirely non-working buttons are symptoms of a worn out microboard. After pressing a button so many times the microboard beneath the buttons will eventually become nonfunctioning. You will need to replace the remote.
Thanks,

The volume on the TV keeps going down by itself. What should I do?

Dont know what tv you have but. You can remove the batteries from remote and if volume still goes down you ruled out the remote as the problem.. Or just take remote to another room. If the problem still exists then Im guessing either a sticky button on the tv volume down or as I have seen to many times.. People clean their tvs with windex or some cleaner and it drips down into the tv messing up the control buttons. Hopefully its just a sticky button..

Hunting at idle-worse cold,slight missfire at top end,done the leads,tightened manifold,checked fuel pressure,volume & injectors-no codes when scanned -checked coils,plugs etc-appears to be running...

Sounds suspiciously like it could be the Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor on the side of the throttle body. They can tend to carbon up and become sticky. Try removing it and cleaning it out with throttle body/carb cleaner. This motor controls additional air into the inlet system. If it is sticky is does not react smoothly and in time with the request from the ecu, it will cause hunting. It may also be a good idea to check the oxygen sensor while your at it, although surprisingly, in all the info I've got I cannot find resistance figures for it.

Sticky controls

Oh boy, ocean water has salt in it, which just
eats away at the electronics of the camera.
Salt water is worse than fresh water, but any water can cause damage.

Try taking it apart and cleaning the rubber number pad with alcohol and let dry before putting back together this should help.
