Hi is this a portable model or the ones you mount onto a window? The reason I ask is that Portable ac's with a duct tubing that you stick out the window are not efficient. I bought two models from different manufacturers. They can cool down a small room only. And it wasn't even that great. Please write me back and tell me which type it is... =)

What is the difference between a ducted and non ducted Domestic Air Conditioner?

Ducted A/C has an internal fancoil unit installed in the roof space of the home. From this central location, a series of ducts run from it and into as many rooms in the house as the owner desires. From these ducts, this allows you to cool or heat each room individually – called zoning
Split systems stand out for their relatively low initial purchase price. Another perk is that the installation is not so invasive – it can often be done in a day or less from a licensed technician. Though, being that the unit is fairly small, it is best suited to cooling or heating one room – this is either a positive or negative depending on how you look at it. On one hand, it’s an efficient option if you only need to cool or heat one room, but on the other hand they are less effective in larger spaces. Rarely could a split system air conditioner cool or heat an entire home. Split system air cons are great options for small areas, but lack the power to affect larger spaces – this is reflected in their relatively cheap purchase price, from around $1,000-$2,000.

Air conditioniong not coming out of all my vents

Hi Linda:
If there is cold air coming out of some of the vents then the air conditioner is working.
The problem will be with any of:
- the ducts that connect the vents to the air conditioner,
- the "gates" that allow air into the ducts, or
- The switching or power that controls the gates.
I suggest you try different settings, record which vents are not working under what circumstances, and in that way determine where the problem is. Once you've isolated the problem, it is usually a lot easier to fix it.
Cheerfuls!

How can I make the ac quieter inside the house?

If you have hard ducts, you can use some flex duct between the supply plenum and the hard ducts as a way to quiet the noise down.

1999 isuzu amigo water in passenger and driver floorboard no antifreeze smell at all.

this sounds like a build up of condensation (water) possibly in your ac/heat ducting or possibly in the plastic casings under the dash that house some of the heating and cooling components. cold ac components close to warm or hot heating components will lead to water build up this is why there should be a drain tube for the plastic housing under the dash board that leads to the outside of the vehicle. this drain tube may be clogged or may be disconnected and not draining to the outside but instead its allowing the water to fall into the area under your dash board. FYI you can sometimes see these drain tubes drip water on cars that use their air conditioner a lot, it looks like the car is leaking water from the bottom but it's just the water draining away from cool air conditioner lines on a hot day and draining properly to the outside of the car and not on the floor inside.

I have a Ruud air conditioner model #13AJA36A01757. The temperture out of the vents is only 70 degrees while it is running. Outside unit, low side is very cold, and the high side is not hot, not even...

If your vents are in the floor, you need to inspect your return air ductwork, you may have some air leaks pulling hot attic air in thru the vents. If the supply vents are in the floor, the return duct may run through your attic, if the duct work is uninsulated or pulled apart, it will pull hot air thru the return, causing a mixture of cold and hot air, giving you a warm air movement through the ductwork. Many service men will not catch this problem. You need to turn the unit on, go up in the attic and visibly inspect the entire return air. I hope this helps you. mark

My AC unit model is CPLE60-1. It is running, blowing cool air but not cooling house. Any Suggestions? and what is the life expectancy of this unit?

Your Goodman unit is a five ton and should last 15 to 10 years with proper maintenance. Parts do wear out though during the normal life of piece of equipment.
Cooling problem may be due to low charge, broken ducting, or other low airflow problem. Need to verify freon charge and then go from there.

Our reverse cycle airconditioner is not cooling in two of our bedrooms, but the rest of the house seems to be cooling alright, but I am sorry the airconditioner is approximately 6-7 years old and we have...

Hi, I assume it is ducted, it could be either a flapper door is closed to shut off an area from receiving air, or there is a blockage in the duct (less likely). Also if there is more than one duct attached to the air conditioner then you'll have to check if air is entering all ducts (you may have a problem with the unit).
