While this is not your exact question, the response answers your question. The water valve is what turns off the water to your icemaker. To be sure the valve is the problem, you can pull the refrigerator away from the wall and unplug it from the wall. Remove the panel on the lower back of the refrigerator, and unplug the wires from the water valve. Turn the water to the refrigerator on, and if the water runs into the icemaker, the water valve is the problem. If the water does not run into the icemaker, the switch in the dispenser is bad.
If it continuously drips, replace the water inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.
