You may have a gas leak or you need to get new gas in it or it could be the thermostat. prety much if the compressor is running but it doesnt get cold these are the two most obvious things to check. hope that helps, let me know how you go.

Purchased in 2010. Temperature doesn't fall below 55F. Fan works. Sounds like compressor is working. Haven't physically inspected compressor. Used to cool to 39F.

May be both. Is the evaporator blocked or have ice built up on it? If so there could be two reasons for that. Low on freon or not enough airflow inside the cabinet.

My Danby refrigerator stopped working after the power went out over the weekend. I have adjusted the temp. dial but nothing appears to make a difference. Is there anything I can do to reset the fridge?

Try to unplug it again let it set 5 min and then plug it back in. If that doesn't do it you may have to replace the compressor relay where the wires hook to the compressor, thats a fairly easy fix on that unit.

Hi,
This is a problem with the 'Motor Run Capacitor'

What you suggest is exactly what happens when this part fails.

Unplug - and look carefully around the connections to the compressor - there should be a cylinder with 2 connections on it. Read what value it says (like 250V 50pf) - and order a replacement from a parts store.

Fit it any way round - it doesnt matter.

plug back in and should work 100%

Cost about - $5

After defrosting the freezer the whole fridge doesn't work (is warm!)

sounds like the compressor is locked up or the relay on the compressor is bad. whats happening is its drawing too much current and cutting out from the overlaod relay. that may be a bad compressor or the start relay. both the overload and the relay are under the black box on the front of the compressor. you will need to check the relay to make sure its good, and also the compressor. there should be a wiring diagram on the back that will tell you how many ohms from terminal to terminal on the compressor. hope it helped if its a newer unit the relays are electronic and if you shake it and hear like little sand pebbles in it most likley its bad and thats why it wont run.
