Hi,
I bought MSI Megabook (Windows Vista Home Premium) two weeks ago, yesterday it froze (I do not know why) and I was not able to switch it off, so I waited till the battery was flat. Then I wanted to start the computer again, however the screen is black, the computer seems to be running. Shall I return it or is there anything I can do?
Thanks in advance.
Katerina
With the machine only being two weeks old, I would RUN not walk back to the store for an exchange. This is a hardware malfunction or failure, and there is no way that the machine should have done this in such a short amount of time. Just tell them that the machine froze, you shut it down by holding the power button down (there was no other way), and now it won't boot. Don't tell them that you left it until the battery ran out, a sudden shut down due to a dead battery can cause damage, and they may give you a warranty run around for that. If they give you any type of run around, demand a manager, then demand he/she give you an exchange. Don't take the run around and don't be afraid to get loud. Managers back down quick to a loud irate customer, they don't like other customers to think badly of their store. NOTE: If a machine ever freezes, and they will, you should shut it down by holding the power button down. It takes a few seconds, but the power button will override the system and shut the machine down. Most freeze ups are just due to software glitches and will start right back up, but in your case it's hardware, since the machine will not start up at all.
