I have a Power Shot A60. The camera has power as I can review any pictures I've previously taken. However, when switched to shooting mode, I get only a black screen. What can I do?

LCD Screen

Your camera is working exactly as SLRs have worked for the first half-century since their invention. You frame the picture through the viewfinder then take the shot. The display is for menu settings and reviewing pictures after they've been taken. Newer DSLRs will let you use the display for picture-taking (and take videos) but the A200 belongs to the previous generation.

No image on screen when switched on. New batteries fitted. Canon Power Shot A60.

Hi,
If your Canon A60 camera shows previously saved pictures in memory card in playback mode but does not show live view in camera mode than ccd imager chip in camera got defective and will be replaced.
Canon offers free of cost ccd imager chip replacement. Click Canon CCD Imager Advisory to avail that FOC service.
Thanks.

My camera takes picture but there all black? The

Last year my Canon PSA60 got the black screen in shooting mode. Menu display was normal and so the picture review mode.
Canon service center replaced the image sensor for free. When it happened again, I asked the service center for unit exchange (trade-in/upgrade program). Now I have my PowerShot S5IS. Good bye PSA60.

Canon has issued this in their notice page: http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/index.jsp?fuseaction=support&prod_type=notices-digitalcameras-lcd

All I see in the view screen is a white screen. I have a power shot A60. It will switch to showing pictures already taken and those pics are fine.

Picture screen

You can choose whether or not to display the picture you have just taken on
the monitor.
ON : The picture being recorded to the card is displayed. This is useful for
making a brief check of the picture you have just taken. You can
resume shooting anytime during REC VIEW.
OFF : The picture being recorded to the card is not displayed. This is
useful when you want to prepare for your next shot while the
previous picture is being recorded.
1 In the shooting mode top menu,
select MODE MENU
 SETUP
REC VIEW OFF or ON, and press

Missing Pictures

Whatdoes the maual say about the cpacity of the internal memory and what happens when it is full? There is probably a more comprehensive manual on the CD by the way. Come back with the answer and I take it further.
