There are a couple of things you can try to fix this. I think you must likely will just need to run IE8 with 'compatibility view' enabled (see below).

Method 1

I would suggest you to run the website in Compatibility mode and check whether you are able to access the website. Follow the steps mentioned below to turn Compatibility View on or off,
a. Click the Compatibility View button that is present near the address bar, or add the website to the Compatibility list.
Follow the steps mentioned below to add the website in compatibility list.
a. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.
b. Click the Tools button, and then click Compatibility View.
For further reference follow the article mentioned below.

Method 2

I would suggest you to Reset internet explorer and check, whether the issue persists. Follow the steps mentioned in the article given below.

Please contact Microsoft for patches for IE8 Beta or use windows update.

You should also reconsider to upgrade IE8 Beta to IE9, wich is actual safer to use, also use windows update to do this.

Within IE8, delete all Temporary Internet Files.
Close IE8.
Open IE8, and access Facebook's "home" page.

Does the error happen "all" the time, or only when accessing one specific friend's web-page?
If the latter, then there's a problem on that person's web-page -- avoid that page to avoid the error-message.
