I think pressing "F10" or "F12" should show the boot menu on boot up but if this fails the you will have to go into the setup (bios) and set it there (could be the "DEL" key or "F2" for setup).

After I boot up my computer all that brings is just a by screen saver with nothing else no icons or anything. Any help would be great.

For some reason it seems that explorer.exe isn't start. I would start by rebooting into safemode. After the bios boot screen, but before the windows loading screen repeatedly press F8 to bring up a menu. Try safe mode with networking first and run an anti-virus scanner. Usually virii and other malware tend to do this.

Tried to boot up my Toshiba Satellite but couldn't get beyond the icon login screen. Clicking the left "mouse" button on the laptop does nothing. I can't get to my desktop or Start button...

Try to open windows in safe mode. An easy way to do this is to press the F8 key after you see the Toshiba logo fade and before the Windows logo. After it opens in Safe mode, close Windows and attempt to load it again... this simple trick may solve your problem.

HELP ME

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME = the BIOS tries to load Windows and can't find it. Either the hard disk has died and must be replaced or Windows was completely corrupted by malware. In either case you must do a full reinstall and load a better antivirus,  and if it happens again you will know that the disk is dead, replace it.

I need to get into my computer, but I forgot the password

Hello Buddy,

If you have not tried going to Safe Mode, try booting the computer in Safe Mode. To get there, you will need to press on the F8 key soon as you press the power button to turn it on. Once you get to the Advance Menu Option, choose Safe Mode. This will boot the computer with the minimal set of drivers running. Highlight Safe Mode and press enter (you can use the up and down arrow key to scroll down and up to choose Safe Mode). Once you press enter you will get to the next screen to choose operating system. There should only be one option. Then you press enter again, will get you bunch of stuffs on the screen comming from the button to top. You will get the log on screen and you will need to choose the Administrator Account. There should appear two user accounts, your account and the Administrator. Log on to the administrator account. Once you have the desktop screen with icons and Start menu, follow these steps:

1. Click on Start menu.
2. Fin the "Run" icon and click on it.
3. On the Open box. type in "control userpasswords2". Then press Ok.
4. You will get a User Account window with a list of users on the computer.
5. Your user account should be on the list. Highlight your account, then press the Reset Password on the lower right hand side of the window.
6. Reset Password dialog box will appear. Then type in your new password. Make sure that you will remember it. ^_^

Hope this one helps

Computer freezes on boot up

make sure the mouse and keyboard are in right connections...if you look closely youll see icons next to ports.
try without mouse at first start up ,load windows and use key with windows logo on it to access start and scroll to shutdown tab and restart...plug in the mouse before restart.
if logo tab isnt assigned press ctrl + esc to access start menu.
