I bought Toshiba Satellite U405D-S2848 around 2 years ago. I use it daily for about 2hrs only and only for Internet browsing (very few standard sites like news and office email etc). Few days ago, when I switched on the laptop, the display was not coming. Before that night, I downloaded a software application related to share trading from a authentic company and its their proprietary tool given to all their subsribers. I don know whether that software installation created any trouble in laptop. After installing that software, I successfully shutdown the laptop, but next day morning I did not get the display in my laptop. Any clues please!

It's very unlikely that any software would prevent your computer from powering-up. This is very likely just a coincidence.

It may be coincidence but I presume you get the Bios menu as the laptop is loading asking you for either F2 or F12 if you wish to change your boot option. If not, plug your laptop into an external screen to check for a VGA processor errors.
I suspect the lamp driver ballast unit may have failed.
Feel free to get back to me with anymore data.

I found this illustrated guide, it is for the model U405, so it most likely will work. Just click on the link or copy and paste on your internet browser. You can go to the next page at the bottom of the displayed page. Good luck

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY TOSHIBA SATELLITE U405D-S2852 USB PORTS it comes with 3 usb ports but from those 3 only only accepts a new device installed on the laptop, the other 2 only send a error message...

It's possibly a power issue. Some USB devices draw a lot of power but not all ports are capable of providing the power. Generally for things like portable HDs etc use the rear port(s) as they provide more power
