Hi,

Here are a couple of tips that I wrote that tell you how to troubleshoot a Torpedo or Reddy heater...

Travis, you did good with the description of what the heater actually is and not what the title says you have.

Try cleaning the photo eye sensor at the combustion chamber and make sure it seats back into holder completely. Use like a Q-tip to just lightly wipe any dust off the eye. If that doesnt do it, bypass the photo cell by connecting those wires or terminals leading to the eye. Your just completing the circuit by doing this. If it still does the same shut down, then your flame out safety control is like bad. (its the circuit breaker you keep pushing back in when it pops out shutting the heater down.) I do have them for sale here at the house in WNY.

whatever problem you are having with brivis buffalo, the first thing you need to try is RESET. This is how you reset.
1. turn off your heater from wall switch for at-leat 5 sec
2. turn on your wall switch for 5 sec
3. repeat step 1 and 2 for atleast 3 times within 60 sec

my brivis buffalo 20 was keep turning off after 30 min. RESET fixed my problem

Heater fires but cuts out again after 30 seconds

sounds like flame sensor.try taking it out and polish with steel wool.flame sensor is a rod that is in flame with a single wire going to it.If there is no flame sensor, check limit switches, but they usually have to be reset when triped.high limits usually reset when cool.check flew for blockage if theres air conditioning, check a coil could be dirty.if every thing else is ok then control board is bad.real hard for nubies to diagnoise.

Burner goes out after lighting and holding button for 30-45 secs.

It is usually the tipover sensor that is bad, I have had 2 of them bad right of the box. It is a black plastic peice, under the metal screen near the round know. It has 2 wires running to it, it is a saftey to shut off the heater if it tips over. to test it touch the two wires together, then try to light it, should lit no problem. Then contact manufacture for a replacement for it.
If this has been helpful, please rate the new guy :)

I have a max e pool heater (400k)btu's,when I start the heater, the burners runs for about 20-30 sec.and then trips off,I have jumpered most saftey controls (temp) and have replaced the control mod. and...

You may have a problem with your air pressure switch. This is located in the exaust pipe I beleve. (not positive) But the heater will fire and if the draft is not right it will shut the heater down. Be sure that the heater is fireing not just the fan running.

Reddy heater 110btu kerosene starts and shuts off?

I would say the thermostat is bad after reading your problem over several times. There is no reason to suspect a wiring problem, and I strongly suggest you don't bypass anything! A fire or explosion could result. Replace the thermostat as a probable cause.

Flame backlash

The burners have an adjustable vent in the front that may have been moved. Also the vent pipe may be inadequate, that is why the roll out switch that you by-passed tripped. If you replace the switch that was by-passed I bet the over flaming stops,as the gas will quit overflowing. Most of these switches have a little reset button on them so look at it next time before you by-pass the wires.
