My Acer Aspire 6930 will not connect to my WIFI network. The touch key will not work, and I cannot connect or set up a new connection through the control panel. I have read on the internet that several people have had this problem. Is there something I can do to fix the problem personally?

SOURCE: Acer Aspire 6930 wifi will NOT turn on when the button is pressed

instead of going through all of that, the best and easiest way to try and fix it is to download the driver from the Acer website.
look up the model on the website and download and install the wireless driver.
This way will definitely fix it if there is a driver error.

SOURCE: where is the wireless connection button on the acer aspire 6930?

The switch for the 6930 is located just above the NumLock key. It actually looks like an LED indicator of a satellite dish, but it's not. It's the button for the WiFi enable/disable. Push it hard...

Try Function-F7. That should re-activate your touchpad.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by taking the front panel above the keyboard off (requires removing 9 or 10 screws from the bottom side), then I made sure the LCD and power cables were plugged in firmly, and finally I did a power reset just for fun. I did this early yesterday evening, and so far it's seemed to work.

How to access wifi ?

LOL, Turn on the Wifi Switch which is usually located on either side of the laptop or at the front. Once it is turned on and working your laptop should start detecting wireless networks that are within the range. Find your's and click Connect. If it is secured with a Network Key/Password, then you will have to put it in correctly to get on. If you put it in wrong you will never connect and in fact on some system it will just keep on polling and polling saying something like Acquiring Address.

Without any wireless networks available, using your computer wirelessly is most pointless. If you want to set up a wireless access point in your home you need a wireless router, connected to Internet.

Wireless network not working

Make sure that it shows the driver in the Device properties and not a yellow triangle. If that is good then try double clicking on the network icon on the bottom right hand corner of your screen and choose connect to a network, then follow the steps. Is you wireless router set as open/unsecure? If it is secure then you will need the key code to add the other computer.
