Would you be willing to try to fix mine? We tried but it still doesn't work! I really could use the help!
thanks
I think I have the same problem as above. Sometimes the blue light will light and then go out.
I looked for screws to hold the screen together, but, I think I will have to try the pry thing next.
My monitor is still under warrantee, and after communicating with HP support, their final response is to buy a new one from them, not from a store. The closest HP affiliate is 50 miles away and they insist I bring my PC in also, as they don't believe my problem. They think it is my PC. What good is a warrantee from HP? I will fix it myself. Maybe HP will pay me. HA!
For those with HP vs19 monitors. I had the same problem of the monitor ceasing to work after less than 2 years. In desperation before trashing it, I did some research on forums and found someone who boldly tried to fix it himself since it was dead anyway. I sent my monitor and this person's solution to a friend who is a repair man and the info was right on the money.
It appears that HP is using capacitors that burn out too fast. There are 3 capacitors on the board inside the monitor that were oozing brown gunky stuff. When he replaced the capacitors the monitor worked fine. My repair guy opened my monitor (which took a bit of prying gently all the way around several times as it just snaps on) and found the same goopy capacitors in mine. He replaced the 10v ones with 35v ones and the monitor now works fine. The total cost to me for the 3 capacitors at Radio Shack and his labor was $30. I am so glad I didn't give up and just trash the monitor. Hope this helps. I would not attempt to fix this myself but by taking it to someone you know that fixes computers and asking specifically for them to check that problem might save you lots of big bucks....
