The DVD (video) laser is probably bad. The DVD and CD lasers are two separate lasers combined into one assembly, although they have the same light path.

If they play cd´s then the motor disc spindle are in bad conditions loose their speed to read the dvd´s you need to replace him

I just had the same problem with the same model. Disc five was saying no disc and would not play any other discs. I opened the radio and found the the CD tray was missing a piece for disc five. You have to put the disc tray back into the holder to fix it. Make sure it locks in place and you should be able to get the rest to work.

Thank you for your email. The problem must have been dust. I kept putting the cleaning disc in for quite a number of times. Thankfully the problem was simple and it is playing super.

If it has been playing CD's for over 5 years (really reliable CD player.) then I'd think it's had it's life, it needs to rest now. Meaning it's dead so you either get a replacement or a get a new CD player.

This is what happened to my mum by the way. ;)

if you have old speakers laying around the house try to see what happens, if you connected the good speaker and still has no sound then the internal amp maybe is bad. Make sure it is not muted also.LOL

I believe the solution for me is going to be hurling it out the third story window onto a busy freeway where I pour gasoline all over it and strike it with a match afterwards beating it multiple times with a baseball bat if I don't figure out how to make it stop!

How do i fix that i get the message on my cd play (JVC HX-D7) and it says PROTECT and shuts off by its self what do i do to fix the problem ?
