SOURCE: how do you clean an

Generally, there is a latch which closes the door on some units...on others it is electrically actuated.  Turn the controls to clean.  Generally, there is a function control and a temperature control which must be activated.  This will latch the door electrically.  A two hour cycle is about right for most soil, if you're given a choice.  Ventilate the area...it smells!  The door will unlatch about half an hour or more after the cleaning stops.

Hi,

The self cleaning feature is quite complicated for which you need to follow the owner's manual. If you have problems with this system, call a skilled repair person.

However follow the bellow instruction if it helps:-

First turn off the oven and allow it to cool. Then remove the oven racks, broiler pan and any other items from inside or on top of the oven, and from the storage drawer.Wipe the inside of the oven door edge using a cloth dampened with water. Wipe the inside 1 1/2-inch area around the edge of the oven cavity frame. Don't clean the gasket. Now close the oven door, and press the "Self Clean" button in the control panel. You need to press the "More" or "Less" arrow buttons to choose a cleaning time and level. The options range from 2 hours and 30 minutes to 4 hours and 30 minutes, available in 15-minute increments. You can choose light, medium, or heavy, depending on the amount of soil. The cleaning cycle starts seconds after choosing a level. Choose the time based on the amount of soil. Now press the "Start" button to begin the cleaning cycle. The oven door automatically locks and stays locked until the cycle completes and the oven cools down.
When the auto clean function is finished and the "Lock" message turns off, unlock and open the oven door and wipe out any ashes using a cloth dampened with water. Replace the oven racks and any other items.

Hope this helps

I turned on the cleaning switch for my self cleaning wall oven and now it seems to be finished but mthe door lock is still on and the oven keeps making a buzzing noise what do I do?

If the lock does not open after the oven has cooled down, then try this: First, unplug the range or shut off the circuit breaker for ten minutes. Plug the range back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and try moving the door lock lever or opening the door. Next, set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for twenty minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever or opening the door

I ran the self-cleaning and the door will not open.

Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
or
Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
If these procedures fail to correct the condition, the lock must usually be accessed and moved manually to open the door.
Some model ovens require the oven door to be manually unlatched before the controls are returned to the OFF position or else the door may not be able to be unlocked. Check the owner's manual for proper operating procedures.

I have an older model double oven by Kenmore - probably 15-18 years old. I was baking bread in foil three days ago and the oven set on bake 325 degrees. (I had been cooking a roast in it for several hours...

Hi.

the oven may have locked in consequence of the self cleaning cycle.

After unplugging, allow the oven cooling down for few hours.

If the is still locked, then the high temperature generated in self cleaning cycle may have damaged temp probe, door latch, or electronic control.

Parts must be tested to discover the fault.

Call Kenmore at the number listed on the owners manual.

Regards.

I need an owner manuel for Caloric Range Model # EST 345 I can'g figure out how to run the self cleaning oven cycle.

you might try the following, although it is the instructions for an old model, it may be relevant;

"The actual self-cleaning process is initiated by a simple 5 step procedure: 1. Set the range clock to time of day. Note: on models not equipped with an automatic oven timer, the self-cleaning cycle is preprogrammed for a 21/2 hour cycle. Use Steps 3, 4 and 5 only. 2.Establish the length of cleaning time by:
A. Setting the start time. Press and turn the start dial of the automatic oven timer clockwise to the desired starting time. B. Set the stop time. Press and turn the stop dial of the automatic oven timer clockwise to the desired stop time. Max time is 3 hours miniumum 1/12 hours. 3. Set the oven selector dial on the control panel to "Clean" 4. Set the temperature control dial to "off". If you temperature control dial has a "Clean" position, then set the dial to "Clean" instead of "Off". 5. Remove oven racks, broiler pan and broiler grid from lower oven. Close and lock the oven door by moving the latch lever as far right as it will go - into the locked position. If the lever is accidently dislodged restore it to the locked position. Otherwise, the self-cleaning process will not take place. Shortly after the cleaning cycle has begun, the oven temperatur reaches a degree in excess of the normal broiling temperature. The red "Clean" light will come on and the clean cycle will start. In a few minutes the door lock lever, which you have placed in the locked position, will automatically be secured to prevent the oven door from beging opened during the cleaning cycle. This latch remains locked until the clean cycle is complete and the oven temperature reduces to normal baking and broiling temperaturs. NOTE: Prior to self cleaning cycle operation, the oven and surface lights must be turned offed. The upper oven can be used."
