There should be options somewhere in the software to set your syncing options, try to find something that turns off sync all or turn on sync only what i choose..
1...You must download and install Windows Media Player 11 on your computer. NOTE...Some older MP3 players will not work with Windows Media Player 11 or Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 11. If this happens to you, then you will have to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and install Windows Media Player 10. 2...After you have downloaded and installed Media Player on your computer. 3...Open Media Player on your computer. 4...Install all your music into Media Player that you want to install on your MP3 player. 5...Plug in your MP3 player to the computer using your Data/Sync cord, be sure that Windows Media Player is on. 6...Media player should recognize the MP3 player and sync with it. 7...After it is sync'ed with the computer, you can add the music you have installed into Windows Media Player to your MP3 Player. Please run the device manager software for the player on your computer and connect the player to the computer. Select repair option on the device manager software to fix the issue.
Hope this allows you to resolve the issue. Please revert back for further assistance.
User manuals and quick start guides can be found on philips website here....

It looks like you have to install the program that phillips makes for this which you can there as well, but it should have come with a CD.
Most MP3 players should also be able to sync with windows media player. Basically you need to rip the cds into the computer and then sync it to your device. Here is a link to a site that gives an easy walk through on ripping music to windows media player....

If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!
Use a pen tip or other sharp object to insert the RESET hole on the side of the player.
Here is a page which shows you how to transfer music over to your new Phillips Media Player. Windows Media Player sync is specific to Windows products. Do NOT use this to transfer music to your Phillips media player. Use the software supplied by the manufacturer.

There is not a virus most likely, but here is how you will start from scratch. Connect GoGear to computer --> Open Philips Device Manager --> click on Repair --> Click on Repair again
Then do the same for "Update"
If this fails, reformat the GoGear in Windows Media Player - consult www.Microsoft.com for instructions WITH pictures.on how to do this (Click sync --> open drop down menu under Sync tab --> click on Philips goGear SAXXXX --> click on Format)
