There is a defrost timer that starts the defrost cycle. If the timer is not working you will have your situation.

It could be stuck in defrost. Check your defrost heater, and see, if it is still hot. If it is, then the defrost timer is stuck. When it goes into defrost, everything, stops working, but the defrost heater and light. As long, as the defrost timer is on, nothing else will work, as far as the compressor, freezer fan, and any cooling/freezing.

Lets see if the defrost timer being turned clockwise slowly will force defrost and cause things to get colder. On page 5 of the (click HERE=>ET4WSKXKQ02 Parts Manual ) you will see location 4? That is the 2188371 Defrost Timer

inside the fresh food com[partment at the top and behind the control panel will be the 2188371 Defrost Timer If forcing defrost solves the cooling problem then just replace the 2188371 Defrost Timer and if not we will need to check the 2176942 Defrost Heater Assembly and the 2192096 Defrost Thermostat Don't buy ba defrost thermostat until we discuss a different way of getting one to work should you need one (last resort because of cost) My focus is defrost timer and defrost heater at this point you will not need all the wires on the defrost thermostat should you need one just splice a simple defrost thermostat into the wiring harness. Hi, Self defrosting is auto defrost with out cycle. It work on controller leads. Cycle defrost timed defrost. It work after certain time The defrost work on evaporator

is the fan motor working in freezer ? is the defrost element getting hot to defrost coil completley ?if they are working then the defrost thermostat may not be working correctly .its connected to the coil and has 2 wires, its round, clips on the coil..good luck this t-stat shuts off the defrost element; if coil is defrosted; before the timer finishes its defrost cycle

make sure the damper vent door located between the freezer and refrige compartments is opening and letting in cold air from the freezer,if they ice up they can stick shut and not allow air flow,this door is behind a plastic grille an a hair dryer works great to defrost them

Yes if the heater and defrost thermostat are good then the problem is the control board.

This could be a bad defrost timer. See if the compressor is working. If it isn`t or only works sometimes. The defrost timer could be bad. When the frig goes into the defrost cycle, turns off the compressor. It may failing to turn the compressor back on after the defrost cycle. Since it stopped defrosting at one point and started again, the defrost timer may be bad. Let me know if this was any help or if I can help any farther.

I kind of doubt that the fan is the problem. On my refrigerator, when it goes on defrost, the fan shuts off. They don't want it blowing heated air on the milk. Yours might be different.

I don't know this particular frig, but evidently the defroster doesn't work. Perhaps the fan doesn't work also, or perhaps the fan would work if the defroster were fixed.

There is a defrost timer, under the frig, accessible from the front. You can turn it with a screw driver. Turn it till you hear a click. If the timer hasn't been turning, that should turn on the defroster, a heating element nested among the freezer coils. Wait half an hour and if it is defrosting, water should be dripping into the drip pan underneath the frig. If so, then replace the defrost timer and you're good to go.

If that doesn't make it defrost, then the problem is probably the defrost thermostat, in with the freezer coils. When the frig defrosts, the defrost heater stays on until the defrost thermostat gets warm. It should be open circuit while warm. But if it is open circuit while cold, it is bad and is the cause of your defrost problem.

If you open up the freezer coils, use a hair dryer to defrost. That is safer than hot water.

I think that when the defrost heater is turned on, then the fan is likewise turned off. The defrost thermostat, I think, is doing it's job, letting it cool again. But the timer is stuck. Or something???.
