If everything works the way it is supposed to, there is no reason to update your drivers. Don't fix what's not broke. If a website is telling you to download new drivers, they are just trying to scam you.

What OS are you running on your machine???
If your have XP installed then you can update the drivers from your device managernselectt device right click and update.
If you don't have the disk then let the wizard find the correct drivers for you,point the wizard at the c drive or search the internet with windows assistance.
Have yoiu had any updates upgrades or device changes???
This sometimes effects them too.
Remove & reinstall ist the only way sometimes,,,,,
A format may take care of this issue also so back up your stuff and start again

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel system and security scroll to sytem tab you will see device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark? ! or a red x right click
you will need to update the driver or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
